PE Teaching Philosophy
I believe in the importance of health and wellness in schools by encouraging students and teachers to be
physically active and supporting a healthy, nutritious diet. I believe that students need to learn how to care
for their body, and how to enjoy a lifetime of being physically active. Physical Education will prepare
students by teaching them how to work with others and how to behave against others as they learn
teamwork and sportsmanship. In my experiences, high school was highlighted by the sports I played,
connections I made with the teams I participated on and learning to love an active lifestyle. Physical
Education is crucial to create well-rounded, healthy students.

Assessment Teaching Styles

Assessment in Physical Education will be mainly I believe that teachers need to be able to adjust

applying physical fitness to everyday life. teamwork and sportsmanship and using personal

shifting as I have new students and classes that
respond to different styles.
Classroom Management
Every student needs daily physical activity. I want to set up a gym class that teaches key concepts, while
still having fun. I take a proactive approach to classroom management by setting up structure,
expectations, and routines. The best classroom management is prevention, rather than reaction,
especially in a gym class. I will manage my class by informing students of expectations, as well as
observing and monitoring my students. I think the key to classroom management is relationship building
and I plan to connect with my students, as well as build accountability and motivation/drive. I will
establish expectations and clearly explain the purpose of the rules to the students. My gym class rules
include:
1) Be prepared to have fun and try your hardest (wear gym clothes/runners)
2) Practice good sportsmanship
3) Don’t talk when instruction/questions are being given
4) Show respect, to yourself, others, and the environment
