Lesson The activities in this lesson will prepare students for their Unit Test later in

Procedures

5 Line students up. Mark the roll.

5 Refer to rhythms written on the whiteboard and instruct students to Rhythmic


copy them in their notebooks. Go through rhythm values. Revision

10 Teach students to sing No One In the House But Dinah Rhythmic


- Students sing melody and words Dictation
- Students sing and stamp crotchet beats
- Students sing and clap the rhythm of the melody
- Students have to draw bars of rhythmic dictation in their notebooks
- Students say rhythm names and clap 1 bar at a time before writing
rhythms down

Time Activities Purpose

5 Distribute sheet music to Honor to Us All. Audiation

Instruct students to clap the rhythms.

List the notes contained in the song (in letter names and in solfa)
and relate to pentatonic scale. Draw 2 ladders on the whiteboard of
the pentatonic scale (letter names and solfa side by side).

Sing pentatonic scale. Have students sight sing by reading hand


signs.

Instruct students consider that C=Do, therefore the starting note is


G=So. Students have to use hand signs in time (of Honour to Us
All), and then sing the solfa in time.

10 Inform students about the background of the Mulan movie, and the Relates
scene. Before playing the DVD, instruct students to pay attention to to one
the musical elements used to create the setting of the movie. function

5 Display a list of musical elements on the projector and discuss what Revision

Distribute Musical Elements Worksheet. Instruct students to glue
into their books and set as HW task. Inform students that their HW
will be checked in the next lesson.
