Subject Description:

Factoring polynomials is the reversed process of multiplying polynomials. When a polynomial is factored, it is re written as the product of two or more prime
factors. Is it important that basic concept of special products is recalled which will definitely simplify the understanding of factoring process for some polynomials.
Important uses of factoring solving quadratic equation, solving for zeroes of polynomial functions, finding intercepts in graphing, and simplifying trigonometric
expressions.

FIRST QUARTER
Content Standard(s)
Demonstrates understanding of key concepts of factors of polynomials, rational algebraic expressions, linear equations and inequalities in two variables, systems
of linear equations and inequalities in two variables and linear functions.

Performance Standard(s)
Is able to formulate real-life problems involving factors of polynomials, rational algebraic expressions, linear equations and inequalities in two variables, systems of linear equations and
inequalities in two variables and linear functions, and solve these problems accurately using a variety of strategies.

PERFORMANCE TASK
Goal:
Your group’s task is to design a floor plan for a floor area whose dimension is x meter by y meter.
Role:
The individual role of each member of the group are as follows:
1. An architect whose task is to design a floor plan for a family of 5.
2. An interior designer who will suggest the best design for the project.
3. An feng shui expert who will suggest the luckiest position for important part of the floor area.
Audience:
The target audience is the members of the low-cost housing developers
Situation:
The challenge involves designing a floor plan.
One of the primary functions of an architect is to make a floor design. In designing floor plan, it is important to maximize available space to make if functional,
convenient, and pleasing to the eyes.
You need to design a floor plan. The plan should include master bedroom, kitchen, living room and other necessary amenities. You are given a floor area of dimensions
x and y. you have to express the dimensions of all the areas in terms of x and y.
Product:
Your group needs to present a floor plan for the given area whose dimensions are x and y, and present orally the product of the members of the low-cost housing
developers.

Subject Description:
Problems involving systems of linear equations and inequalities are among the most frequently recurring practical problems in almost all fields of scientific study such as
mathematics, physics, business and economics, engineering, operation research, and social sciences. Many of these problems are linear programming problems.
Even if computers may be programmed to solve complex problem, the skill in solving system of linear equations must be developed.
System of linear equations are solve through different algebraic method; substitution, elimination, matrices, determinants or graphing calculator.
