3 Potential Matches to Close Manny Pacquiao’s Hall-of-Fame Career

Manny Pacquiao is considered to be one of the greatest boxers that have every graced the ring.
Presently, he does not even look to have slowed down. He keeps the same intensity and speed
just as he was 10 years ago. Having signed with Premier Boxing Champions and Al Haymon, the
list of potential matches for Pacquiao has grown exponentially.
As Pacquiao is growing old, there are continuous talks of his inevitable retirement. To strike
while the iron is hot, here are three potential matches that Pacquiao needs to have before hanging
the gloves around May 2020.
Danny Garcia
Danny Garcia (34-2) has only lost twice in his career. This April 20, he has a fight against
Adrian Granados, and if he comes out victorious, he will be one of those people who will
challenge Pacquiao for a fight. Garcia is good with counter-punches, but he is not really as quick
as Pacquiao. Pacquiao may win this fight with a strong showing.
Omar Figueroa Jr.
Omar Figueroa Jr. (28-0-1) is undefeated at 29. Figueroa is looking to establish his credibility as
a boxer after having been on hiatus for nearly two years. Just recently, he was able to score a win
via unanimous decision against John Molina Jr. The former world champion would be a budding
challenger for Pacquiao, as he can prove to be a tough fighter. The payoff would be good as
Pacquiao might be handing Figueroa his first loss, or the latter might find himself validated if he
can beat one of the greats.
Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Pacquiao’s swan song should be against Floyd Mayweather Jr., and nobody else. This is the best
fight that Pacquiao can ever have competitively in terms of the physical aspect. In the financial
aspect, this would prove to rake in millions of dollars considering that their first fight earned up
to $600 million.
The first fight was criticized to be boring and was less competitive, but there were various
controversies regarding the finish of the match. MayPac 2 should prove to be a selling match
regardless of what was said of the first match. Mayweather and Pacquiao, though already much
older, have proved that they can still work hard at a physical aspect.
As Pacquiao seeks to prove a point on handing Mayweather his first loss and proving that he is
the greatest boxer of all time, Mayweather would not refuse a fight that can potentially give him
an eight-figure guaranteed deal. Should Pacquiao win, this rubber match may give way for a
deciding match in MayPac 3.
