What's New in iSpring Suite 9

In addition to improvements in the mechanism for converting presentations and optimizing the interface for working with the latest
software versions and the newest equipment, including HiDPI monitors, the updated version of the iSpring Suite 9 editor includes great
improvements in three components:

iSpring QuizMaker
iSpring Visuals
iSpring Cam Pro

You can watch this short video to get an idea of the newest improvements in iSpring Suite 9:

iSpring QuizMaker
The improved QuizMaker 9 interface allows you to create and edit quizzes and surveys even faster than ever. Below is a list of innovations in
the iSpring QuizMaker 9 test editor.

Updated interface

The updated interface of the editor allows you to work more productively on modern monitors with higher resolution. The workspace is
organized so that the most important functions are always available. Quiz questions are located in the center of the window, and in the
panel on the right you will find the necessary settings and a thumbnail of your slide - all at your fingertips.

New question type: Drag-and-drop

Drag-and-drop questions engage users in the learning process, help them to master the topic, and train the skills of employees. Users drag
text boxes, pictures, and shapes, and practice the correct actions in the form of a game. Using drag-and-drop questions, you can create a
simulator for arranging objects or grouping by category.
Improved text editor

The updated text editor allows you to use advanced features for text formatting:

superscripts and subscripts

inserting pictures and video into the text
inserting equations into the text

Built-in equation editor

The new built-in equation editor has all the necessary capabilities for creating mathematical and scientific equations and formulas.

Formatting styles for shapes

Now you can use text blocks and vector shapes when composing questions. To text blocks, shapesandpictures, you can apply formatting
capabilities identical to those of MS Office:

Outline styles
Fill styles
Transparency
Effects (Shadow, Glow)
iSpring Visuals
Working with interactions is no harder than heating up a slice of pizza: just choose a suitable template and fill it with your text and images.
Interactions have a customizable design that’s easy to fine-tune to match your corporate style.

Let’s dive into some examples of how the new interactions will help you present course content and engage learners with a lot less work.

Tabs

This interaction will help you present well-structured content in a compelling way. For example, in a management course, you can explain
how to set SMART goals or describe how a SWOT analysis is conducted.
FAQ

When a new employee starts their onboarding program, they havealotofquestionsoncorporatesoftware, duties of team members, and
payroll. With this interaction, you can create an engaging FAQ that will help newbies get answers fast without distracting employees from
their tasks.

Glossary

Quickly create a glossary of terms, a directory, or a catalog with easy navigation. For example, you can compile a catalog of insurance
products to quickly introduce newbies to this topic. Or, if your company is launching an e-Learning department, create an e-Learning
glossary so that all employees can speak the same language.
Accordion

With this interaction, you can show a call handling procedure, or even organize an online office tour for interns so that they can explore
your office and their future workplaces.
Timeline

This module will show an employee the key events of your company’s history and explain to them how your values were formed. In a
product training course, a timeline will help you present the product development stages to track changes from one version to another.

Steps

This interaction will help you train your employees to act automatically in problem situations. For example, you can use Steps to provide
your tech support with a step-by-step guide on how to dealwithanangryclient, ordescribetheprocedure for dealing with a fire in a general
safety course.
Cyclic process

This interaction will be of help if you create courses on industrial processes and safety. For instance, you can show how part cutting or raw
material processing is performed. With this template, you can show any repetitive process; for example, the Deming cycle, which is a cyclic
decision-making process that is used in quality management.
Pyramid

With this template, you can explain your company hierarchy. Plus, it’s a great template to use in soft skills training to show, for example, the
Minto pyramid principle, which can help people communicate more effectively. Besides the standard pyramid, you can create an inverted
one to present various funnels; for example, a classic sales funnel.

Now you can specify in which direction users will study the pyramid layers.
Circle diagram

In welcome courses, the Circle diagram will help you visualize your brand values or show how your target audience is segmented.

Labeled graphic

This interaction makes it much easier to describe what a complex device or mechanism consists of, show product features, or teach your
employees to work with a new software interface.

Guided image

Draw learners’ attention to details when explaining how the equipment works, or when describing a complex diagram. One more use case
for this template isacourseforsalespeoplewhoneedtovisually present a product to customers.
Hotspot

With this template, you can present a layout of products or components. And if your company sells products online, Hotspot is a great way
to show regions with various shipping options so that managers can answer questions faster. In medical courses, this interaction will help
learners to master the structure of human organs and systems.
Media catalog

Create a catalog to help employees quickly navigate through the products offered by the company. It’s a great template for product training
in the spheres where products can be easily shown visually; for example, if you sell clothes, furniture, devices, or food.

iSpring Cam Pro

Meet the brand-new iSpring Suite 9 with an advanced video studio! Now, you can educate your learners with video courses, software
tutorials, and video lectures. Mix and edit videos like a pro — even if you’ve never done it before.

Let’s have a close look at the video studio’s powerful features.

“Picture-in-picture” for your screencasts

With iSpring Suite 9, you can record two videos at the same time: a screencast and a webcam video. You can show both streams together or
easily switch between them. For example, help new hires to master an intricate app by adding your video comments to a screencast-based
tutorial.

Software tutorials with visual hints

When you record a screencast, iSpring Suite automatically detects when you use hotkeys, click, and type, and adds visual cues for these
actions to the video. You can show your learners how to use hotkeys, explain what each button is for, and teach how to use the app step by
step.

Video-based courses with experts

With the new iSpring video studio, you can bring together videos, voiceovers, and photos, and merge them into a professional video course.
For example, record a video with an expert and support it with text and graphics. Plus, you can pepper your video with helpful insets to
highlight the key points and boost retention.

Interactive canvas — like PowerPoint slides

Now, you can add videos, images, text blocks, and shapes, and edit them on a canvas, just like in PowerPoint. Move and resize all the
objects to find a layout that fits best for your project. For example, expand a video to full screen and focus learners’ attention on a
charismatic instructor; or, hide a talking head video to show key findings on a topic.

Multi-track timeline for audio and video

There’s an unlimited number of tracks, so you can add as many layers as you need. With iSpring Suite 9, you can merge videos from
multiple tracks, add audio, and even show two videos at the same time.

Don’t worry if you cough or misspeak while recording. You can cut out unwanted fragments or merge a video from several clips.
Smooth transitions between scenes

Smooth out the transitions between videos, info slides, and photos. You can adjust transition effects to make the images ripple into videos,
and videos smoothly flow back into images.

Recording audio from microphone

You can record a voice narration for the clip right in the iSpring Cam Pro video editor. While recording the audio, the sound will be
automatically normalized and noise will be deleted.
Speeding up and slowing down media

Accelerate and slow down video and audio to synchronize tracks or make the clip more dynamic.
Inserting freeze frames

A freeze frame added to the video clip helps to extend it and synchronize with a separately recorded audio.

Separating audio and video

You can extract sound from the video clip to a separate trach which you can then edit.
Activating and Deactivating iSpring Suite

It is important to go through the activation process before you start using the product.

Read the iSpring Licensing Policy, which describes the types of licenses that iSpring has developed for different categories of users.

When you purchase a product, you get a license key. Using a license implies the following:

iSpring product copies registered with a Business License cannot be used simultaneously
iSpring product copies are intended for use by only one user
Computers must be owned or controlled by the license holder

The license key provided with a purchase of the product is for a certain number of activations. Please note that if you need to transfer the
product to another computer or reinstall the operating system, you can deactivate your license.

In the following sections, you will learn how to:

Start a free 14 day trial to evaluate all product features.

Activate a purchased license to remove all the limitations of the trial version.
Deactivate your license when moving the product to another computer or reinstalling the operating system on your computer.
Change license key or registration information.

Trialing iSpring Suite

You can start using the trial version of iSpring Suite right away after installation. The trial version of iSpring Suite is the best way to evaluate
all the features of the product. This fully functional version produces content of the same quality as the full version. You can use the trial for
14 days. After the trial period is over, you will need to activate the product with the license key received after purchasing.
Trial Version Limitations
The only limitations of the trial version are a 14-day limit and an evaluation banner covering a part of the presentation area, as you can see
in the picture below.

To start using iSpring Suite without any trial limitations, you need to purchase the product on the iSpring website and activate it.

Activating iSpring Suite License

To start using iSpring Suite without the trial period limitations, you need to obtain a product license and activate it.

Online Activation
Manual Activation

1. Click Activate on the iSpring Suite toolbar.

2. If you already have an iSpring Suite license, enter your license key and click Next to proceed with entering Registration Details.

To purchase an iSpring Suite license, click Purchase Online.

3. At the next step, you can specify the user's name and the company name. This information will be displayed in the About window
of iSpring Suite.

After completing steps 1, 2, and 3, you can choose how to activate the license: quick automatic online activation or offline manual
activation.
Online Activation
The fastest way to activate the license is to go through the online activation procedure. To do it, keep the Attempt to activate my license
online now option checked and click Next. Online activation requires an active Internet connection. It usually takes just a few seconds
to complete the online activation process.

After successful activation, you will see the number of remaining activations and the total amount of the allowed activations for your
license.

Manual Activation
If there is no Internet connection on the computer, or activation via the Internet does not work due the computer's antivirus
software blocking the connection, then you can activate your license offline.

To perform offline activation:

1. Clear the Attempt to activate my license online now checkbox, enter your registration information and click Next.
2. Choose Activate the license manually and click Next.

3. Send a license activation request with your License request code and License key via email to the Support Team. After you
receive the License activation code from the iSpring Support Team, paste it into the corresponding field and click Next. Manual
activation requests are usually processed within one business day.
The activation process should be completed within 3 days after you enter the license key. If the license is not activated within this
period, an evaluation watermark will be added to your presentations.

The license activation binds the product to a given computer and its operating system. As the number of the allowed activations is limited,
you should deactivate a previously activated license if you want to reinstall the operating system or activate the license on another
computer. This way you will not lose your activations.

Deactivating iSpring Suite License

If you want to move iSpring Suite to another computer or reinstall the operating system on your PC, you need to deactivate the license. You
can either deactivate a license without removing the software from your computer or uninstall and deactivate your iSpring Suite.

Concurrent License

A concurrent license is a software license that is based on the number of simultaneous users accessing the program. iSpring software can
be installed on an unlimited number of computers, but the number of concurrent users cannot exceed the limit specified by the license.

How a concurrent license works

What to do if there are currently no free licenses allocated to you
How to install and activate a concurrent license

How a concurrent license works

For example, with a five-user concurrent license, when five users have opened the program, the sixth user is prohibited to use the software.
The sixth user won’t be able to use iSpring, and has to wait until one of the other five users closes the program.

What to do if there are currently no free licenses allocated to you

If you see a message that the connection limit has been exceeded, please contact your system administrator. You will be able to connect
later after one of the other users finishes his or her work with iSpring Suite.
How to install and activate a concurrent license
Installing a concurrent license involves two steps. First, install the license server, which allows you to monitor the number of connections
and disconnect users if necessary via the License Management Console. Then, install the client application (iSpring product) on your
computer. Both the license server and client product should be activated with the same concurrent key. When activating the client product,
you will need to specify the address of the license server and a port number (9979 by default) and connect to it. For more information about
installing the license server and activating the product, please see the articles below.

License Server Installation

The license server and the iSpring Suite end-user product are installed separately. To get the license server installation file, please contact
an iSpring sales or support manager. You can install the license server either on a server or a computer with the Windows operating system.

To install the license server:

1. Start the iSpring Suite License Server installation on your server or computer. To do it, double-click the installation file.
2. Check the box I accept the terms in the License Agreement and click Next.

3.
3. Specify the port number that will allow server-to-client communication. The default port value is 9979. Then click Install. Wait until
the license server installation is complete.

4. After the license server installation is complete, click Launch or open the license management console from the system's start
menu. The License Management Console will open.

5.
5. After that, go to the License tab of the license management console and click Activate license.

6. Now, copy and paste your concurrent key to activate, and click Next.
7. Activate your license online or manually in the offline mode. The activation process is the same for all iSpring products, and is
described in detail in the article Activating an iSpring Suite License.

After installing and activating the license server, you will have access to the iSpring Suite License Management Console. On the Console
tab, you can see a list of the connected users and users waiting to connect. Additionally, you have the option to disconnect any user in the
list to make the software available for other users.
Product Installation and Activation

To install the product on your computer and activate a concurrent license, follow the instructions below:

1. Download the newest version of the product at ispringsolutions.com and install the new version of the product.
2. When the installation is complete, open the iSpring Suite 9 tab in PowerPoint and click Activate on the toolbar.

3. Insert the concurrent license key and click Next. Use the same key that you specified for the License Server activation.
4. Specify the computer name where the License Server is installed. If the client and server parts are both installed on the same
computer, then type in localhost.

5. In the Use port field, specify the same port that you indicated in the Server License Management Console. The default value is 9979.
Click Next.
Your product is now activated. You can start using the iSpring product if there are any available connections (floating licenses) on the
server.

Upgrading from a Business to a Concurrent License

To upgrade from your Business license to a Concurrent license, you need to perform the following steps:

1. Install a new version of the product. Download the latest version at ispringsolutions.com and install it on top of the old version.
2. After installation, open the iSpring Suite product and click About from the Help drop-down menu on the toolbar.

3. In the About window, click Change License Key.

4. The Activation Wizard window will pop up. Keep the checkbox Enter another license key selected and click Next.

5. Insert the concurrent license key and click Next. Use the same key that you specified for the License Server activation.
6. Specify the name of the computer on which the license server is installed. If the client and server parts are both installed on the
same computer, then type in localhost.

7. In the Use port field, specify the same port that you indicated in the Server License Management Console. The default value is 9979.
Click Next.
7.

Your concurrent license is now activated. You can get started using iSpring Suite if there are any available connections (floating licenses) on
the server.

Customer Experience Improvement Program

Starting from version 8.5, iSpring users can join the Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP). The CEIP is the ability for all iSpring

Updating Projects Made with Previous Versions

Please note that a course opened in iSpring Suite 9 or created there from scratch won’t function in iSpring Suite 8. When you open an old
iSpring course in iSpring Suite 9, a backup copy of it will be automatically created, so you can always get back to the backup copy if
something goes wrong.

How to create a backup copy of a course

Open your course in PowerPoint and go to the iSpring Suite 9 tab. When you click on any of the tab’s options (other than the Information
options), a popup window prompting you to update your project will appear.

After clicking on the Update project button, the process of creating a backup copy of the course will start.

As a result, you will receive a new .zip archive, which will be called "(Backup) %Presentation_Name%". The backup is saved in the same
folder as the original project.
Immediately after the backup copy is created, the update process will start to make your course work correctly in iSpring Suite 9.

When your course is updated, you’ll be able to work with it in iSpring Suite 9. If you need to work with the course in iSpring Suite 8, you can
go back to the backup copy, unzip the archive, and open the old course in PowerPoint.

Exporting Presentations

When you export your project, iSpring Suite 9.0 makes a copy of your presentation along with the project folder, which contains narrations,
quizzes, etc. We recommend you export your presentation right after you finish it, as it will enable you to:

share your project with your colleagues for collaborative work;

send your project to the iSpring Support to reproduce an issue;
create backups, just to be on the safe side.

To export your presentation, follow these steps:

1. Go to the File tab.

2. Then, click on the Share button. You will see a number of ways to share your presentation.

3. Next, select the Share iSpring Suite Project option. In order to make a copy of your presentation with the project folder, click on
Export Project. The Export window will pop up.
4. In the Export window, specify a Folder Name and the new Location of the backup folder.

5. Check the Create Zip package option if you want to archive your iSpring project. This will come in handy if you need to send your
project via email.

6. Click Export to copy the PowerPoint presentation and all its resources to the selected location.
7. The Zip package will contain a copy of your presentation with the project folder.
