We developed materials,
activities, and lesson plans for the 7th
week of our course. There are five
lesson plans that can be used for five
sessions of the 7th week of the
syllabus. All activities and materials
are developed by keeping in mind the
student centered classroom where
students learn in groups or pairs in
order to develop confidence and
collaborative learning.
Learning is fun
We consider the language
learning process a matter of
motivation, practice, confidence, and
autonomy of language learners. When
learners lack all these aspects of
language learning then there is a need
of “creating contexts and work
environments that can facilitate good
teaching” (Richards, 2001, p.198).
Our language program is focusing on
the same types of learners who need
to be motivated, want to develop their
confidence, want to practice all four
language skills, and want to be
independent learners. We understand
that creating good learning
environments for our students is an
integral part of our English foundation
course.
Practice & Progress
The process of assessment and
evaluation leads to accountability and
development of a course. We believe
in “development-oriented evaluation”
which aims to improve the quality of
our course (Richards, 2001, pg. 288).
Our assessment plan will focus on
students’ learning assessment and
course evaluation which will be
carried out throughout the course in
the form of formative and summative
assessment.

 The English Foundation
Course is an elementary level course
that focuses on both academic and
general English. It enables its students
to use English appropriately and puts
them on the learning track so that they
would be able to become independent
learners. The course integrates all four
language skills using a range of
motivating, interesting, relevant, and
authentic input in an active learning
environment, thus providing effective,
innovative and appropriate instruction
through a variety of activity types.
Believing that language learning is a
skill, the course provides students
maximum practice in all four
language skills of reading, writing,
listening, and speaking.
English Foundation Course This course is the right start.
Some of the goals and objectives of
our course are stated below to give a
glimpse of the vision of what we will
teach.
I. Students will develop an interest in
learning the English language.
II. Students will be able to take some
responsibility for their own learning,
and will develop confidence in their
ability to use the English language.
III. Students will be able to listen and
respond orally and appropriately to
their teachers and friends.
