Some, if not most, would say that we are living in perilous
times. Although I can’t deny that, I would rather think
more optimistically and say that, for the church, these are
more opportune times. Yes, we are in the midst of a
pandemic with multiple reasons for all of us to be gravely
concerned. Now we are seeing what should be peaceful
protests become violent riots in cities across our country.
A political divide has now widened and those sworn to
protect us have now been targeted as the enemy. What
happened in Minneapolis was abhorrent. As former law
enforcement, I can assure you that these men were not
representative of the men and women who are called to
“serve and protect” us. Even though this was a travesty,
the response of burning down our cities is not the
answer. All that is happening is only piled on top of the
many other ills and problems that have been plaguing our
nation.
For the church, which includes each and every follower of
Christ, this should not be a time to fear, but rather a time
to allow the light of Jesus Christ to shine through our lives
and through the life of His Church. It should be a time of
humility, confession of sin, repentance, and trusting our
God and not man. It is a time to pray for one another and
for a lost and dying world. It is a time to live out the
gospel.
This Sunday evening at 6:00 pm we will hopefully,
weather permitting, come together for an outdoor
worship in front of our worship center. Then on Sunday
morning, June 14, during the 9:00 and 11:00 am hours we
will worship in-person. We will enter through the front of
our worship center (those with disabilities included) and
our security team will assist in parking as everyone uses
the Bowling Green entrance. We will practice social
distancing of 6 feet apart (except for families), masks and
gloves will be provided and encouraged to be worn,
especially if you sing. You may drop your tithe and/or
offerings in designated receptacles in the foyer or as you
enter or exit. Online or mail-in giving is still encouraged.
The balcony will be closed. Restrooms are available for
emergency use only. Front doors to the worship center
will open 15 minutes prior to each service. We are asking
you to go to eastmont.org and look for the link to register
to attend. The 11:00 service will be live streamed.

Sunday Worship Services
Sunday, June 7th - 6:00 pm outdoor service in front of the

Sunday, June 14th - 9:00 am & 11:00 am services in the
worship center. Go to eastmont.org to register your
household beginning Saturday, June 6 @ 10:00 am so that
we can make appropriate preparations. The 11:00 am
service will be live streamed at eastmont.org/live.
Prayer and Fasting
Join us in fasting from sunrise to sunset on Thursdays.
During the time that you would usually eat, pray for our
faith family, our nation, and all those impacted by the
COVID-19 virus.
Caring for One Another
If you are a church member or know of a church member
requiring assistance with essential needs such as grocery
pick up, pharmacy pick up, financial needs or any other
essential needs please call the church office and / or send
an email to ebc@eastmont.org.

SUMMER PLANS
With mission trip and Super Summer Alabama being
cancelled due to COVID-19, we're planning something
special for the week of July 20-24. Details coming
soon. For now, save the date!
FAMILY BIBLE STUDY
Students and families are invited to read the epistle
of Hebrews. We host ZOOM calls each Thursday at 3:30
p.m. for those wishing to discuss the reading. Join us this
week.

VBS - June 23-25. BOLT toward faith in Jesus! Please invite
your friends, family, and neighbors to join us for Virtual
VBS at their very own home. Some resources will be
supplied if you register by June 7. Go to eastmont.org/

with friends and family!
This is also a great opportunity for grandparents to spend
quality time with their grandchildren. Designed for ALL

working hard and praying that June 7 will be a
wonderful, safe time of regathering with our Eastmont
family. Thank you for your continued prayers and sup-
port as we seek divine inspiration on how to move for-
ward under these difficult circumstances.
Eastmont Music and Worship Ministries is looking
forward to our annual Patriotic Service. Due to Covid-19
some things may look a little different, but our faithful
tech team, instrumentalists, choir and leaders are
working to make this a powerful service. If you are
serving or have served in the military, please be sure that
we have an up-to-date picture to be part of the

Cheryl Wells will be retiring as Eastmont’s Financial
Manager on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 after almost 32
years of faithful service. While we are unable to have a
reception in her honor due to the pandemic, please feel
free to take the opportunity to send her a note to let her
know how much she has meant to us.
Senior Adult Ministry

Portland & Kennebunkport Senior Adult Trip
I have been in contact with White Star Tours over the last
several weeks. COVID-19 has the travel industry at a
standstill with no immediate date when travel may
resume. After much thought and prayer, because of the
uncertainty of when we can travel, the safety of
individuals traveling, and the possibility of some of the
feature destinations being unavailable, the Senior Adult
Trip to Maine for September 5-12, 2020 has been
CANCELLED. White Star Tours will honor our current
price for the trip next year even if there is a price
increase in 2021 should we decide we want to rebook. A
refund check for your deposit and any payments you
have made available for you to pick up on Thursday, June
4th after 2:00pm.
Homebound Ministry
The Eastmont Homebound Ministry is in need of
volunteers to visit or call our members who are
homebound, in nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
If you are interested, please call Mary Ann Plemons at
the church office. Until COVID-19 restrictions are lifted,
volunteers can send cards of encouragement or call
these precious members of our church family.
