FORALOC C’est la société de location du groupe. Elle met à disposition

de ses clients plus de 250 matériels de forage ainsi que les

Implantations / Our premises

Située sur la zone industrielle de Carros (France), notre
unité de production est à environ 15 minutes de l’aéroport
international de Nice Côte d’Azur, et 2 heures des complexes
portuaires de Marseille et de Gênes (Italie).
Based in Carros, 25 km from Nice in the south of France, our
manufacturing plant is only 15 minutes away from the international
airport Nice-Côte d’Azur and 2 hours from the ports of Marseille and
Genova-Italy.
Notre base logistique est située à Allonzier-la-Caille à en-

viron 20 minutes de l’aéroport de Genève (Suisse), et à 1
heure de l’aéroport de Lyon (France).
Our distribution center is located in Allonzier-la-Caille, in eastern
France, 10 km from Annecy, 20 minutes from the international airport
in Geneva, Switzerland and 1 hour from the international airport in

l’ensemble du processus de fabrication, nous pouvons
réagir face à vos besoins. Les outils 6D sont fabriqués dans
une unité spécialement dédiée, située à Chassieu.

in Carros, equipped with two friction welding machines and the state of the art

DESCRIPTION OF THE METHOD FOR THE EXPLORATION

La majorité des explorations minières sont réalisées selon les méthodes suivantes :
- Carottage,
- Forage RC (circulation inverse).
Lors de la sélection d’une méthode d’échantillonnage, il est important de prendre en compte les paramètres suivants :
- Type d’échantillon
- Précision de l’échantillon
- Diamètre du trou
- Profondeur du trou
- Budget
Explication de ces deux différentes méthodes :

- Carottage : un échantillon cylindrique solide, appelé carotte, est prélevé grâce à un carottier, la carotte montre
la teneur en minéraux ainsi que la stratigraphie et la géologie de la roche. La structure du grain est conservée intacte
avec des veines de minéralisation visibles.
- Prélèvement par forage RC : la roche concassée est recueillie sous forme d’échantillons, appelés “cuttings”,
à partir d’un système de forage à circulation inverse. Il s’agit d’une méthode rapide et relativement peu coûteuse pour
l’échantillonnage et qui permet d’obtenir une idée assez précise de la teneur en minéraux d’une zone.

When selecting a sampling method, it is important to take into account the following parameters:

Explanation of these two different methods:

- Core drilling: a solid cylindrical sample, called the ‘’core’’ or ‘’core sample’’ is removed thanks to a core barrel, the core shows
the mineral content and the stratigraphy and geology of the rock. The grain structure is kept intact with visible veins of mineralization.
- RC drilling: crushed rock is collected as a sample, called cuttings, from a system of reverse circulation drilling. This is a quick

Le forage RC (circulation inverse) avec marteau fond de trou :

Avec cette méthode, le forage nécessite de générer suffisamment d’air et une pression de rotation sur l’outil, le marteau
pneumatique et un train de tiges doubles 10 , afin de générer la percussion et de créer les échantillons de roches.
L’air comprimé, injecté par le touret 1 , se déplace par la chambre extérieure de la tige de forage (entre le diamètre
extérieur du tube inter. et le diamètre intérieur de la tige exter. flèche bleue) jusqu’au marteau fond de trou 2 qui aura
pour effet d’entrainer un piston entre deux chambres de haut en bas. L’air est évacué par des ports qui s’ouvrent et se
ferment en fonction des déplacements du piston avec un cycle pouvant atteindre 2000 mouvements par minute. En fin
de course le piston entre en contact avec l’outil 3 et l’énergie transmise au taillant est suffisante pour briser la roche.
La roche, une fois brisée en échantillons dit « cuttings » remonte par la partie intérieure de la tige double (donc par le
tube intérieur flèche verte) sous l’effet de la pression d’air injecté.
L’échantillonnage :
La plupart du temps les échantillons sont collectés via un système de récupération.
Les trois composants principaux de ce système sont :
4 CYCLONE : l’air s’échappe du train de tige. Pour éviter une usure prématurée des flexibles 5 , on peut utiliser
un déviateur de cuttings 6 qui aura pour effet d’amortir les cuttings. Les échantillons parcourent ensuite le flexible
jusqu’au cyclone.
7 déversoir : les échantillons sont capturés dans la partie supérieure. La porte de déversement inférieure permet de
continuer le forage pendant que les échantillons seront divisés. A la fin de chaque intervalle de forage (généralement 1m) le
train de tige et le trou sont soigneusements nettoyés pour éviter toute contamination du prochain prélèvement.
8 DIVISEUR : les échantillons qui arrivent du déversoir sont récupérés dans le diviseur et sont ensuites collectés
via des sacs de récupération 9 . Puis ils sont répartis dans des bacs et étiquetés.
Le forage rotatif RC :
En circulation inverse le forage rotatif est une méthode plus lente, mais elle a l’avantage d’être moins affectée par la
contre-pression et par le flux d’eau. Il est fréquent de voir cette technique utilisée à hautes altitudes où il est impos-
sible de pressuriser l’air suffisamment pour créer l’énergie de percussion nécessaire au forage à circulation inverse
standard (avec marteau fond de trou).
Cette méthode utilise le même principe pour faire remonter les cuttings à la surface que dans un système RC conven-
tionnel, mais ne nécessite pas l’utilisation d’un marteau fond de trou pour briser la roche. Au lieu de cela, on utilise un
tricône spécial pour briser la paroi rocheuse.
Les entreprises de forage utiliseront également cette technique pour forer dans des zones avec beaucoup d’eau. Il est
courant d’utiliser un système conventionnel jusqu’à ce que cela devienne improductif à cause de la contre-pression, pour
enfin terminer le trou avec le système à tricône.
L’échantillonnage se fait exactement de la même manière que dans la méthode précédente.

The RC drilling (reverse circulation) with down the hole hammer:

With this method the drilling needs to generate enough air pressure and rotational force on the tool, the pneumatic hammer and a drill
string 10 , to generate sufficient percussion energy to create rock samples.
The compressed air (injected by the air flow swivel 1 travels through the outer chamber of the drill rod (between the outer
diameter of the inner. tube and the inner diameter of the external rod, blue arrow) to the down the hole hammer 2 where it drives
up and down a piston between two chambers. The air is evacuated through valves which are opened and closed depending on
the displacement of the piston with a cycle of up to 2000 movements per minute. At the end of its’ course the piston comes into
contact with the tool and the energy transmitted to the tool 3 is sufficient to break the rock. The rock sample once broken is called
«cuttings» and flows back up by the inner part of the dual pipe (through the inner tube, green arrow) by the effect of the pressure
of the injected air.
Sampling :
Most of the time samples are collected with a cyclone system.
The three main components of this system are:
4 CYCLONE: The air escapes from the drill string, to avoid premature wear of the flexible 5 , we can use an elbow 6 that will
effectively cushion the cuttings. The samples then go through the flexible to the cyclone where the samples fall to the bottom of it.
7 DROP BOX: Samples are taken from the upper part. The dump door bottom allow to continue drilling whilst the samples
are divided. At the end of each drilling interval (typically 1m / 3 feet) the drill pipes and the hole are carefully cleaned to avoid
contamination of the next specimen collection.
8 SPLITTER: Samples that arrive from the drop box shall be placed in the splitter and are then recovered through the bags

Rotary drilling RC :
Reverse circulation rotary drilling is a slower method, but it has the advantage of being less affected by back pressure and water
inflows. It is common to see this technique used at high altitudes where it is impossible to pressurize the air enough, to create the
impact energy required for standard reverse circulation drilling (with dth hammer).
This method uses the same principle to get back the cuttings to the surface, but does not require the use of a down the hole ham-
mer to break the rock. Instead a special tricone is used to crush and scrape the rock face.
Drilling companies also use this technique to help drill in areas of high water inflow. It is common to use a conventional system until
it becomes unproductive because of the back pressure to finally finish the hole with the tricone system.
Sampling that does exactly the same way as in the previous method.

Ce raccord est positionné entre l’outil et le train de tige. Il permet de stabiliser le train de tige dans le trou grâce aux
«renforts» situés sur le diamètre extérieur mais également d’aléser le trou. Le diamètre extérieur des «renforts» est
basé sur la taille du trou foré et est généralement 1/8’’ inférieur au diamètre de l’outil.
Positioned between the bit and the drill string. A digout sub provides hole stabilization through the pads positioned on the outer
diameter but also to bore the hole. The outer diameter of the stabilizing pads (or blades) is based on the size of hole being drilled
and is typically sized 1/8” smaller than the outer diameter of the bit.

Dans un système forage rotary RC avec tricône conventionnel, il est nécessaire d’utiliser un adapteur tricône qui sera
vissé directement au train de tige. Cet adapteur est dimensionné pour permettre à l’air d’être dévié vers l’extérieur du
tricône. Les cuttings sous l’effet de la pression remontent par le diamètre intérieur de l’outil puis par le diamètre intérieur
du train de tige.
In a rotary drilling RC system with conventionnal bit it is necessary to use an adapter that will screw tricone drill string directly. This
sub is designed to allow air to be diverted to the outside of the tricone. The cuttings under the effect of the pressure back by the inside
diameter of the tool and by the inside diameter of the drill string.
