Language Courses in the European
Quarter
AMIRA LANGUAGE SCHOOL asbl - in Brussels, Belgium - is a
large, friendly, government recognised school for adults. We're
non-profit, highly professional and specialised in courses for the
international community in Brussels. Established in 1983, Amira is
one of the most experienced language schools in the city and holds
Q*For quality certification, a quality label for the school's private
classes and small group lessons.

EDUCATIONAL
PHILOSOPHY:
Caring, friendly
and creative with
an emphasis on
oral communication. The programmes are built around 12 progressive
modules in accord with the common framework of levels for language
teaching established by the Council of Europe. In particular, Amira has a
Step by Step method which allows you to start the lessons at any moment
in the year at the exact appropriate level and make consistent progress with
students of a similar level in a motivated group. Amira offers small, lively
groups of maximum 8 students.

COURSES: The emphasis at Amira Language School is on oral communication with culturally stimulating courses entirely in
the language of study; balance between structure and spontaneous expression; range of activities from the avant-garde to the
traditional. The school offers a step by step series of courses covering: Beginners (European Reference Level A1),
Intermediate (A2), Higher - Advanced (B1 - B2), Proficiency (C1 - C2. You can take these as Intensive French Group Courses,
Individual Immersion Courses intended for one or two students, Twice Weekly Morning, Afternoon or Evening French Groups;
and Private Lessons or In-Company Courses in all main European languages.

AMIRA’S FRENCH CONVERSATION COURSES run all year round with many groups and levels in parallel. This means that
you can start a programme of any duration whenever you want. From the moment of decision, you are on the way to learn
French. At Amira, it is very practical and flexible. In each short group cycle you cover half a Council of Europe level :

• Each TWICE WEEKLY EVENING group cycle of 7 weeks is 31h30m in 14 sessions of 2h15m, from 7 pm to 9.15 pm on
Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays & Thursdays. There are six consecutive group cycles in a year.

• Each DAILY INTENSIVE group cycle is 40 hours over 3 weeks (July-August over 2 weeks). Lower levels are in the
mornings, 10 am to 1 pm; higher levels are in the afternoons. Six to seven group cycles will take around 5 months.

• Each TWICE WEEKLY MORNING group cycle of 5 weeks is 40 hours in 10 sessions of 4 hours, from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm
on Mondays & Thursdays or Tuesdays & Fridays. There are seven consecutive group cycles in a year.

QUALITY: The quality report by independent external auditors and the consequent Q*For certificate are part of the required
elements for the school’s recognition by the Belgian government. Our government recognition means, among other
advantages, that students working in Belgium can use government subsidized training schemes (VDAB opleidingscheques /
BEAweb) to pay for their courses. The essential certification requirement is that at least 80% of the professional clients
interviewed are satisfied with the service they received. Amira’s score is over 90%.

OUR APPROACH / OUR TEACHERS: Since 1983, Amira has helped

thousands of newcomers to Brussels enter a new language world.
Whatever is the language and your present knowledge, the important
point is that you are here with all your vigour and motivation. At Amira,
you will enjoy an exploration which is uniquely you in new words, while
you acquire the clear and elegant patterns of the best speakers. At Amira,
the words ‘lively’ and ‘non-academic’ fit easily with ‘step by step’ and
‘structure’. This is the art and the science of professional language
teaching. It is this skill with which we respond to your practical and
educational needs, interweaving a natural approach to culture. The
language opens the door to a new country. You step through, engage with
the people, see their way of doing business, listen to the songs and meet
the culture face on. Our experienced and enthusiastic teachers will give
you confidence as you develop your own natural feel for the new idioms. With such top teachers, super methods and in
comfortable classrooms, you will be using the language all through your course. Amira’s Private Immersions and Intensive
Groups can be the most profitable experience. Teachers love them. Students have an immediate sense of progress and
results. They are the best.

LOCATION: Located in the Léopold district near the European institutions in a modern, comfortable, air-conditioned building,
it is just by the bus/metro stop "Trône / Troon". There is day-time public parking 5 mins walk away at Arts-Loi or Porte de
Namur. Evening parking is quite easy around Sq de Meeûs, which is very near the school. Free, underground evening parking
at the school.

For each student, learning a language is a superb flight into personal creativity.
First there is the fun. Adult education is not boring. At Amira, the words ‘lively’ and

science of professional language teaching.

It is this skill with which we respond to your practical and educational needs,
interweaving a natural approach to culture. The language opens the door to a new
country. You step through, engage with the people, see their way of doing business,
listen to the songs and meet the culture face on. You return thereby with a new taste
for your own language and its richness. What looked traditionally like a challenge is
transformed into a delightful journey.

Since 1983, Amira has helped thousands of newcomers to Brussels enter a new
