Honoring the Parents

1. Analyze the ways of honoring the parents
2. To identify the parents’ grace and the reward of honoring them.
I. Answer the following:-
1. What did the Prophet Muhammad (SA) said: about parents? And about honoring them?
A. Prophet Muhammad (SA) said: “In the happiness of the parents lies the pleasure of Allah
(SWT), and in their anger Allah (SWT)’s anger.”
B. Prophet Muhammad (SA) was asked which deed is best. He said, “Prayer performed on
time.” He was asked, then what? He said, “Honoring one’s parents.” He was asked, then
what? He said, “Jihad for the sake of Allah.” 
2. How should we honor our parents?
A. We should honor our parent by:-
1. Respecting them
2. Obeying them
3. Helping them
4. Taking care of them when they are sick
5. Lower my voice while talking to them and treating them kindly.
3. What did Allah (SWT) said in Qur’an about parents?
َ ‫ضى َر ُّب َك اَاَّل َت ۡع ُبد ُۡۤوا ِااَّل ۤ ِا َّياهُ َوبِ ۡال َوالِ َد ۡي ِن ا ِۡح‬
A. Allah (SWT) said: ‫سا ًنا‬ ٰ ‫و َق‬

“And your lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good
treatment”
4. What will you do if your parents got angry at you and scolded you?
A. I will maintain silence and be patient and show respect and will not answer them back.
5. What is the reward of those who honor their parents?
A. Prophet Muhammad (SA) said: “If a person looks with love at his parents, Allah writes
in his favor the reward equal to the performance of one Hajj.” [Someone asked,
“will this promise be good if one looks at his parents one hundred times a day?”
The Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) replied, “even if one does so a hundred
thousand times a day, Allah gives the reward accordingly.”
B. Prophet Muhammad (SA) said: "He who wishes to enter Paradise through its best door must
please his parents
6. What is the punishment of those who do not honor their parents?
A. Prophet (S) said: that two of the major sins in Islam are Shirk and to be disobedient to one’s
parents.
