Purpose

The purpose of this Field Modification Instruction (FMI) is to provide notification of the release of 
version 1.3.0 software for the Solera Opus system. The addition of software version 1.3.0 to existing 
Solera Opus systems should be accomplished on an “as needed” basis. 

Notable changes within version 1.3.0 software include the addition of LimeLight handpiece support. 
The LimeLight handpiece (already supported by the Xeo platform) emits light in the range of 
520‐1100 nm and is intended to treat Benign Pigmented Lesions. Additional changes include several 
Snowflake / Sunshine mode display interface tweaks and a modified error reporting strategy that 
should reduce the occurrence of E339.

Instructions

1. After updating U16 and U46 of the control board and U17 of the display board, test the operation 
of all available delivery devices. 

The methods used to load (flash) the updated software onto the control and display boards are 
outlined in several procedures located in the Work Instruction folder of the Service Tool CD. 
There are no significant changes in the flashing procedures, other than the updated flash code. 

Handpiece test parameters and expected results are detailed in a series of informational bulletins 
located in the Delivery Device folder of the Service Tool CD. Carefully position the sapphire win‐
dow of the handpiece parallel to, and approximately 1‐2 mm from, the energy detector. Fire sev‐
eral shots while holding the handpiece steady to determine the correct output energy.

2. Demonstrate the updated functionality of the system to the customer. 

The Service Engineer must document on the Service Report form (984005847) upon successful 
completion of the Field Modification Instructions. Include the system serial number, FMI number, 
name of the person performing the modification, and date of completion. The Service Report form is 
to be faxed to Cutera at 1‐415‐330‐2444, Attn: FMI Completion.
