Win A Fishing Trip Contest

We appreciate everyone who entered our Win A Fishing Trip Contest!

Jeff and Toni Jones of Howell

Michigan won the trip and
brought up a couple of friends
Kevin & Christy Lindsey. It
was nice to see the look on
their faces when they got off
the float plane onto the dock
at Mosher Lake.

We all had a good chuckle when we had called Jeff and Toni at home
to tell them that they had won the trip.

When we first contacted Toni, she thought we were trying to sell

them vacation property.

After a few minutes she realized it wasn’t a scam and we started

the process of getting them on their way fishing. They are a
great bunch of people and it was our pleasure to meet them. We
hope to see them up north again soon.
2010 Big Fish Contest Winners

Annual Biggest Fish Contest:

It was an exciting year with many large fish caught. Our guests
reported several large northern, up to 47”, Walleye up to 29 ½”, and
Smallmouth up to 22 ¼ “

Below are this years results. As per the contest rules, only those who
supplied a measurement AND a photo will receive the prize of a
Kashabowie Outposts sweatshirt.

Biggest Walleye of 2010

After the season closed, we realized the race for biggest walleye in
2010 was a tie between Mark Johnson, of the Shawn Finley Group and
Len Pilkington from Tennessee.

Both these trophy walleye measured in at 29 ½ inches!

And both walleye were caught on Gridiron Lake!

Mark caught his walleye on June 12, 2010, while staying at our
Gridiron Lake Outpost Cabin.
Biggest Northern Pike of 2010

Unfortunately we do not have a photo of the 47” Northern that

was reportedly caught on Grew Lake.

Instead we are including this photo of Patrick Miner with a

mighty northern pike he conquered on Wapikaimaski Lake on a
sunny July afternoon, summer 2010.

They took the picture, skipped the measurement – and

respectfully released this majestic Northern.
Biggest Smallmouth Bass of 2010

The award of recognition for the biggest Smallmouth Bass of 2010

goes to Carolyn Baxter!

Carolyn caught her trophy smallmouth bass on Bemar Lake, July 21,
2010.

It measured a whopping 22 ¼" in length and a full 14" girth, we do not

have a picture to share.
Annual Best Picture Contest

Every year we give away a free fly-in fishing trip in our best picture contest.

It is not easy to pick. So in 2011, we are asking all of our guests, and their
friends and families, to join our page on Facebook and vote for the pictures you
like the best. You can vote as many times as you like.

Help us decide what picture will win the fishing trip in 2011.
This year's winning photo was taken by the Scott Staples Group. This photo
captures the moment of a peaceful morning on Wapikaimaski Lake.
Upgrade Report 2010.

Due to the low water conditions

at Bemar Lake we were not able
to get the new dock in. With all
the snow we are getting we
suspect the water levels will be
high enough this spring. The
dock will be our first priority!

If Johnson comes out with the

9.9 etech Outboard Motor by
spring, we will replace some of
our motors.

We have plans to put a new roof

on the cabin at Grew Lake to
keep with the high standards that
guests expect at our outposts.

Piche Lake will get a new

floating dock which will make
it almost perfect.

We plan on improving the

walkways at Wapikaimaski.

Gridiron Lake just needs a

little yard work to keep it up
to Kashabowie Outposts
standards.

All the camp screens will be

checked and replaced as
necessary.
Fishing ‘10

Fishing this year was great with a lot of

smiling faces. Mosher Lake seemed to
have a good run of big Walleye. Ron
and Nancy Mandernach found a great
spot for walleye and were pulling out 4
and 5 pound fish one after another.

The Epley family had

a great time fishing
up at Loganberry
Lake and made the
first ever remote fly
in fishing Rap video
which can be viewed
on our website!

Mountairy Lake has always produced unbelievable fishing with all

the groups doing very well on quantity and size. Mountairy’s fishing
has been so productive that we are changing it from a catch and
consume lake to a regular fishing lake. This will allow our guests to
bring out a limit of fish as per the current fishing regulations.
Grew Lake was a nice surprise
this past summer for a work
crew that flew in for some
regular maintenance and of
course a little fishing. The crew
found it difficult to catch enough
fish under the 18” size limit for
an evening fish fry. We plan on
using Grew a little more this
coming season and we think the
people that have already booked
are going to get a pleasant
surprise when they drop their
first line into the water!

Gridiron Lake was typical - with fantastic fishing reported by all.

Bemar Lake produced great Bass

and Walleye fishing but some of our
new groups had a hard time finding
the fish due to the low water
conditions. The repeat groups that
have been going in for years
adjusted their techniques and got on
the fish right away.

We were pleasantly surprised to see

some of our anglers using fly rods to
fish for Walleye, Northern and Bass.
They were fairly successful and fly
fishing is something Brian has
always wanted to try.
Fall Hunt 2010

Archery Moose Hunt

The Archery season was a great success with one of our drive-in
hunters taking the first Bull. Gary Redmon took a beautiful 50” bull with
guide Larry Ogden, aka 'The Moose Whisperer'.

Fern took an unbelievable 59 ¾” Bull on the 25th of September. The

Mosher gang nailed down that area by taking a nice Bull and getting
some amazing trail-cam footage of a monster Bull still lurking around
that lake. I think they will be back next year to see if they can find him.

The Ross Lake crew had a great hunt guided by Paul Duquette. There
was lots of action and they got up close and personal with a couple of
Moose but were not able to get a good shot.

Bill and Scott from the Archers Choice Posse were up for the gun
hunt. Fern took them to Mosher and called in two Bulls. Bill was
shooting that day and Scott took some amazing footage of the Bull
coming out of the bush down at the end of the bay.

The Bull Moose charged across the bay on a mission toward Fern's
call. The Bull knew exactly where to go and stopped to thrash the
ground and as he walked he grunted all the way in. Brian said, “It sent
a shiver down my spine and an excitement that I hadn't felt hunting in
years.” - and he only watched the video!

With nerves of steel, Bill was able to take a great shot and Scott was
able to take some of the best Moose hunting footage we think we
have ever seen!
Remote Ontario Fly In Moose Hunt at Mosher Lake

Brian had the pleasure of going up to Mosher with Fern and the gang
to do a little hunting himself. He became popular with the guys
because he was the proud owner of a 12 B Bull tag and they were
without.

Brian thought he could give Scott the opportunity to take his first Bull
Moose. The Gang went out the next morning and things seemed to be
right, it was cool, about 30 F with frost on everything... but the Moose
didn't cooperate.

We hope to see Scott and Bill up next year so Bill can get some great
footage of Scott taking his first Moose.

Mountairy Lake Moose Hunt

Our Mountairy gang never cease to amaze us with their great spirit
and personality. The Thomas Group from near Kingston Ontario, has
been coming up hunting with Kashabowie Outposts since the early
1980’s and have always done well.

They were able to get a nice bull and calf their first couple of days in
the bush, then enjoyed the rest of the week relaxing and spending the
time away with the guy’s.

They are the last group in Mountairy and always do a great job
closing up the camp for us “Thanks guys we really appreciate it”.
