Question ; Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: It is more enjoyable to have a job

where you work only three days a week for long hours than to have a job where you work five days a
week for shorter hours. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

People often may debate this argument. It is not easy to agree or disagree with this statement without
considering good reasons for the choice. Many people may claim that working three days a week for long
hours is more pleasurable than working five days a week for shorter hours. However, others may belief
otherwise. I, personally, assent to the statement that being employed for three days a week for longer
working durations is much better. My decision is based on the following reasons.

First and foremost, working three days a week for longer hours could increase the productivity of a
worker, an individual could engage more time in refreshing and leisure activities. There will be more time
for family activities which in turn can strengthen the bond between family members. Spending time with
family is a great stress buster. It fills the mind with positive attitude and power to deal with arduous tasks
and hence, creating error free duties. On the other hand, working five days a week is a cumbersome
process. People deplete most of their energy in getting ready and in reaching the office at the required
time, this increases more stress and lowers the performance level of workers. My personal experience is
the compelling example of this. About eight years ago when I started working with SEMCO computers, I
had to work three days per week for twelve hours. Subsequently, my life was very easy at that time since
I had lot of time to stay with my wife and kids. I helped them in performing household chores and other
difficult responsibilities which they couldn’t undertake. Conversely, if I was involved in a five days work
week, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to assist my family in doing some household chores and also
interacting with them always.

Most importantly, it will be environmentally friendly to work lesser days per week. One has to commute
to work for lesser days, which in turn will reduce the level of pollution inherited from vehicles and other
environmental pollutants. There could be less release of harmful gases like carbon dioxide, and carbon
monoxide from automobiles. These gases are responsible for the green house effect as well as for the
depletion of the ozone layer of the earth, which protects one from harmful ultraviolet radiations. On the
contrary, commuting daily to job five days a week can cause much more pollution which is damaging to
all living creatures around the globe. For instance, Last year, I got a full time job of forty hours a week; I
had to fill petrol in my car so as to commute to work. On my way to work, my car emitted bad poisonous
chemicals, which were harmful to me. Moreover, there were other automobiles emitting these poisonous
gases raising the level of toxic polluted air. All of these including mine turned New York into one of the
most poisonous air polluted city in the eastern part of the world

In conclusion, to make the long story short, it is more pleasant to work three days a week for long hours
rather than five days a week for short hours. This is because it increases the efficiency of an individual.
Moreover, it is friendly to the environment; hence, I personally agree with the statement. Therefore, I
recommend that we should consider these reasons before making a choice.
