Foreword

This Unit Orientation document helps you navigate through the sessions along the learning path that
has been designed for this unit.

This document informs about the concepts covered under each session, the expectations and
learning outcomes for each session and the work assignment that needs to be completed for each
session.

The Evaluation Matrix for the unit is specified at the end of the document.

The matrix is made available to the parents to reflect on the learning behaviour and work-skills
demonstrated by the student. This is for the parents’ personal use only.

This Unit has two types of learning sessions of 30 minutes each:

a) Virtual Learning Sessions: These sessions are conducted by the teacher as per a fixed
timetable. Session Notes are provided for each virtual learning session. These Session Notes
include instructions on the pre-session preparation, if any, that needs to be done; it outlines
the concept and the objectives and outcomes that will be covered as well as indicates the
reference material associated with the session. It also mentions the details of the work
assignment to be completed and the mode of correction and the evaluation criteria for the
assignments.

b) Self- Learning Sessions: These sessions involves students in independent, self- learning with
some assistance from the parents. Activity Plans are provided for each self-learning session.
These Activity Plans include instructions on the activity to be conducted as well as specific
guidelines for parents’ assistance. It highlights the objectives and outcomes of the session as
well as indicates the reference material that will need to be used for the session. It outlines
the assignment to be completed as well as the mode of correction and evaluation criteria.

Unit Summary:

This unit helps the students read the text aloud paying attention to the punctuation and intonation
and respond to questions in oral form, concept of opposites (antonyms) and also identify and use of
suitable articles(a or an).
