2020 AUGUST PRIMARY VOTER’S GUIDE

On August 4th, Missourians will cast vital votes on Medicaid Expansion and
candidates for the November General Election, including St. Louis County
Executive. Vote wisely, by voting like me.

First, here are links to local County and St. Louis City elections, with issues and
candidates. You can always find your specific ballot issues, based on your address,
at SOS Jay Ashcroft’s WEBSITE.

AMEDNMENT 2: MEDICAID EXPANSION
Everyone will vote on this, and it is the only statewide ballot issue. Amendment 2
should be called “Obamacare Expansion.” Do NOT let the progressive dark money
groups fool you on this hidden effort to bring single-payer health care. If you live
in Missouri and are disabled, 65 years or older, or low income, you are already
covered by Medicaid. If Amendment 2 passes, Medicaid would be expanded to
cover able bodied, childless adults. Medicaid is meant to be a safety net, not a
way of life. If this massive entitlement program that already takes up 40% of our
state budget passes, it will cost Missouri taxpayers up to $349 million dollars each
year. That will force deep cuts in education, transportation and law enforcement,
or massive tax increases to cover the cost. I expect each of you to make a wise
decision - and follow my advice.

MARC'S VOTE ON AMENDMENT 2: NO

ST. LOUIS COUNTY EXECUTIVE

Dr. Sam Page is running for his first term, after being appointed by County Council
to replace the felonious Steve Stenger. Page spent his time on Council blasting
Stenger for lack of transparency but has somehow convinced Democrats on
Council to give him complete control of $170 million in Federal Covid funds. His
outrageous shutdown of St. Louis County, his disparagement of the County Police,
and his efforts to discourage schools from opening classrooms has exposed him as
a feckless progressive. Mark Mantovani, Jake Zimmerman and Jamie Tolliver are
running against him in the primary. Zimmerman and Tolliver are far-left, anti-
business, pro-“criminal justice reform” progressives like Page, interested only in
bigger government. Mantovani is the only choice in this race, even though he
does support merging St. Louis City back into the County. He is a businessman
who has been publicly critical of Page’s Covid shutdown and would clearly be a
more moderate voice.

TO IMPACT THIS RACE, REPUBLICANS WILL NEED TO ASK FOR A DEMOCRAT

BALLOT. Missouri has open primaries and voting a different ballot does not affect
your party affiliation. If you take a Democrat ballot, you only need to vote for
three items: Mantovani, “No” on Amendment 2, and “Yes” on Proposition C. The
sad news is that St. Louis County has not elected a Republican County Exec since
the 1980’s. If you want to fire Sam Page, choosing Mantovani in the primary is
your only option. You can still vote for Republican Paul Berry in November.

DEMOCRAT MARK MANTOVANI

ST. LOUIS COUNTY PROPOSITION C

This one is simple. This is the required Charter revision recommendation that was
completed last January by a commission. Ignore fake news suggesting that “God”
was removed from the preamble and replaced with “The Supreme Ruler of the
Universe.” That language actually dates back to 1979. The only political
correctness to be found in the revision is that it was re-written to be “gender
neutral,” so all he/she references were replaced by the job title. Here’s the ballot
language, which should serve to reign in the County Executive and Prosecuting
Attorney, at least a bit:

* Providing reasons for vacancy in the office of County Executive and procedures
for filling such vacancy. * Combining functions of the Departments of
Transportation and Public Works. * Re-stating functions and powers of the
Director of Public Health. * Re-stating qualifications for the Director of Parks,
Public Health, and Transportation and Public Works. * Providing for up to four
Boards of Equalization. * Providing authorization to eliminate certain Boards and
Commissions. * Amending appointment of the Director of Judicial Administration
and Condemnation Commission. * Reducing the number of signatures required to
authorize recall of the County Executive, Prosecuting Attorney and Assessor.
