1 Introduction
This document details the design, manufacture and whole of life performance
requirements for single and three phase low voltage isolating transformers for use in the
RailCorp electrical network.

The transformers described in this document are associated with Local Electricity
Distributor supplies, the 120/415Vac signalling systems and supplies to equipment in
contact with the RailCorp 1500V dc system. Specific applications of the isolation
transformer are detailed in Section 4.1.

The design is suitable for transformers rated from 5kVA to 315KVA, inclusive. For
signalling transformers with ratings below 5kVA, it shall comply with the requirements of
RailCorp Specification Single Phase Air Cooled Isolating Transformers for Signalling
Applications SPG1133.

The intention of this document is that the transformers will be dry-type. Oil filled
transformers are not acceptable.

The requirements of this document apply to all new single and three phase low voltage
isolating transformers.
