Entire mathematics rests on the assumption that 1+1 = 2. Suppose one replace the
assumption as 1+1 = some other number, then the entire mathematical theories will be
violated and the modern sciences as well. Similarly there are some assumptions in every
science which are used as such. Astrology rests on the top of statistics. So to apply the
astrological theories we have to consider the related person, his timeseries data,
environment and other factors related. In every ones’ life there will be a trend line which
governs his character and life as in the horoscope. Due to the interactions with his
surroundings there will be a cyclical pattern also. Besides this the climate will affect him
very well as seasonal factors. If you remove all these three effects there will be a random
component which can happen accidentally at any time. So I am saying that what we say
through the related movement of planetary positions will not be going wrong as it rests
on some statistical theories. The isomorphism between planetary position and the
astrological techniques for prediction of a female birth in cows is logically and
statistically tested here and concluded in predicting the birth time for a cow. A practical
implication of this study thus have very good result in a veterinary point of view.
When we go through the astrological texts written thousands of years ago, we feel
“How the ancient sages realized these great sciences at that time when no sufficient
person to test a medicine or to study the medicinal properties of a tree”. There comes the
role of astrology. It is the eyes of Vedas. There is a saying that ‘Sarvendriyaanaam
Nayanam pradhanam’ That is eye is the foremost important organ in our body. Veda
Purushan is personified in a form as “Chandah padoutu vedasya hastaha Kalpoudha
pathyate Jyothishmayanam Chakshushu Niruktam shrotra muchyateSikshaghranastu
vedasya mukham Vyakaranam smrutam Tasmat sanga madheetyeva Brahma loke
maheeyate”. Thus astrology is considered as the eyes of Vedas.
Varahamihira was a well known scholar in astrology who was one of the
Navaratnas in the palace of King Chandragupta Vikramaditya where world famous Poet
Kalidasa, Doctor Danwanthari etc. adorned great place. So in such a place the place of
Varahamihira is by merit and should study his inferences on astrological theories. He
studied his forefather’s astrological books and gave corrections wherever necessary and
removed the unscientific parts from it and made a book with many meanings for each
verse as Varahahorasasthra. In this book there is a page on the prediction of sex of a baby
through the time which he told aadhana lagna. Irrespectively the variation in length from
earth of revolving bodies around the sun with other effects such as rotation in varying
angles for different planets with their satellites etc. the place of birth and time of birth can
predict a unique birth in the world. In this situation the study gives a scientific approach
to the sex prediction in calves.
According to Varahahora, “Ojarkshe Purushamsakeshu balibhir lagnarkka
gurvindhubhi punjanma pravadel samamsasahithair yugmeshu thairyoshithaam…” and
another on “Lagnanavaamsaka thulya thanusyath…” etc reveals the importance of the
lagna navaamsaka. I have calculated the parameter lagnanavamsaka for the time of
artificial insemination in the cows with Latitude 10o36’N and Longitude 76o15’E and its
expected sex was noted and then compared with the actual sex. The data pertain to time
of AI and its birth time of cows was collected from College of Veterinary and Animal
Science, Mannuthy of Kerala State. The collected samples were analysed for statistical
significance of Lagna navamsaka under the null hypothesis that the AI time has no effect
on sex of the progeny. The total number of data used was 63 and two still birth cases
from it was omitted from the analysis. Among the 61 data points the expected sex
occurred 58 times and 3 were went wrong (may be due to the error in time written). Any
how the result showed a highly significant Chisquare value for rejection of the Null
Hypothesis.

Discussion
The study tells the importance of Lagna navamsaka in sex prediction from AI
time and place and hence through this study we can adjust the time of AI so that to get a
cow. The result is highly encouraging to the astrological world to impress the science in
astrology before the scientific community. This method can be utilized to increase the
population of cows and hence to increase the milk yield also.

Acknowledgement
I would like to express my deep and sincere gratitude to Dr. Justin, Dept. of LPM,
College of Veterinary and Animal Science for assisting in collecting the data for the
analysis.
