1. What does good life means to you? And how are you going to achieve a good life?

Good life, for me, literally means having a good life (insert wink emoji here). You have luxury
cars, walk-in closet for your clothes and shoes, mountains of bills to spend, making a name in the
corporate world so that you can expand more your already gargantuan house with hectares of fields
surrounding it, and there you have a complete and happy family. In short, “achieving your dreams.”
Name all the material things in this world you want to be in your hand and I considered it a good life yet,
incomplete — a deficient life.

Because I believe that life is like a jigsaw puzzle, with myriads of pieces scattered in the universe.
You need years to collect every fragment before completing it; and I really mean it. Not just like your
ordinary tour that has a stop at the end of the day, the process of achieving a good life is difficult,
complicated, continuous, and sometimes never-ending. You may say that you already have what you want
at the moment but I bet, that doesn't satisfy you longer. You are not contented because contentment lives
within.

It's kind of cliché, and others may have the same answers like mine, but I will repeat it. Having a
good life can't be measured solely through material things. My future self will poke me to where I am
now if I contradict that latter sentence and will say, "Man, that's ridiculous!" And I will not make any
argument with that because in the first place, I have my family, friends, and all of the people joining me
to breathe the same air.

Yes, you have your family — the first to fill your blankness, your emptiness. They care for you
since you came out in this world until now. All they want is for you to feel secured and happy. I am
speaking in general, because others might say, they never experienced having a family. Thus, here they
are, your friends then. Though they are oftentimes annoying, it doesn't hide the fact that they know you
more than your family. In some instance, more than yourself. They are your wonder wall, source of fun,
sometimes provider of your basic needs and hygiene kits, siblings you wish to have and a great supporter
yet a great basher too.

If you do not have a family or friends, try considering the people you've encountered every day.
Total strangers are those people who are not totally strange at all. They are also battling just like you. And
do appreciate that they are helping you in one way or another. Your driver on your way to school, the
vendor who gives you food to eat in exchange for your money, the beggar who extended his hands to
depict that you are still lucky, your teacher, co-passenger, favorite idols, politicians who are fortunately
granting out scholarships and other philanthropist; all have contributions to make your day complete.
Even the stray dogs and cats, and others which belong to the animal kingdom, are part of your journey to
get the title of having a good life.

However, don't ever forget yourself. You are actually the writer of your life and not God. He lets
you live in His creation, and it is up to you whether to value it or not. All that happens to you is because
of your actions, your decisions, and your work. And if you want to have a good ending, write every
chapter right and flows the way it should be. So that in the end, it will be published and all of the credits
will be yours — a copyright of your life.

And if you think that this is already a long response, then I will leave it with this: "Good life is a
life that is original. It can be achieve through material things but also with the things that are intangible
like love and happiness. But it is not necessary to be happy and all are smooth all the time. Life in reality
is not a comedy. There are time for drama, action, thriller, horror, romance and some fantasies. And also
remember, being alone doesn't mean you are lonely. Make time for yourself too."
2. Technology, a necessity or want? Elaborate your answer.

This is the simplest yet the hardest question I’ve always encountered. Originally, I want to choose
“want” for some reasons. But after formulating critical and logical reasons, I’ve realized that this should
be answered 83% necessity and 17% want.

Generally, it is a necessity at present time because of everyone needs communication tools

powered by technology. It is for the fast delivery of messages and for a convenient conversation even
though you are kilometers away from the one you are talking with.

Technology must be present at the working environment. Aside from computer, a business
company needs systems that will work with fewer mistakes to prevent delays, executory or additional
cost, smooth transactions which will eventually provide a big profit. Also, they need the internet for
research and development, and advertising purposes in order to expand their demographic customers.

Likewise, imagine a doctor without a phone and there are lots of victims because of war. A
police, soldier and security guard who do not gun and walkie-talkie, what do you think they’ll do when
something bad happens? Do wushu and karate-do? Our engineers and architects, what will they use aside
from a piece of paper and a pencil? Technology really is a must.

If you are not satisfied, then just visualize the media without any medium. A reporter needs a
microphone and a cameraman who obviously uses a camera. Kuya Kim and his team in PAG-ASA need
advanced tools to forecast the weather conditions (even though sometimes not that accurate, at least, the
information from them became our basis whether to move and be ready or not when there’s a calamity).

Technology is also one of the measurements whether a country is globally competitive or not. It
provides a lot of job opportunities like the telecommunication companies and business processing and
outsourcing or known as the call center. An individual can also do business through online. That’s how
powerful technology is.

And everyone needs transportation, light, and anything you have right now. Because it is not
limited only to the internet, gadgets and machine, but scope all the things that are products of science. As
defined by Merriam Dictionary, it is the practical application of knowledge.

Yet, it only became want when used just for fame, or worst, for illegal negotiations.

3. Argue to the statement, “Future does not need us.”

It is short yet a very broad collection of words that you don’t know what to focus. It will
definitely bring confusion to every individual who will hear it. What particular time does “future” lies?
What “does not need” literally means, and who are “us” they are referring to?

That is why let me define them first for me to able defend my argument later. Future is the period
of time that will come after the present time. Does not need, or equivalent to the word nonessential,
means not completely necessary or a situation in which someone or something is not necessary to be done
or to have. And us, are the people in general.

Thus, I should say that the sentence is correct. Future does not need us; yes, but it does not mean
that we are not in the scene, staying in this world because it does not show exclusion. Does not need us is
not the removal, eliminating or getting rid of us but rather describes somewhat related to solitary.

Future needs change. Future needs further development. Future needs new learning, new
environment, new faces and phases. Future needs to be futuristic in a sense that it is different from the
present. Future needs the present so that it will surely happen.
Future will be operated by machines and technology. Future will create inventions and other
stuffs. Future is the new world you never know what it looks like, but can be forecasted. Future does not
need us, but we, the people in general, need the future for us to still exist, to be the one operating the
machines and using the technology, the one who will create inventions, and the one who will build the
new world that just once only forecasted.

4. Discuss the pros and cons of the continuous development of the information age.

I may say that the continuous development of this age brought a lot of positive effects on the life
of the people. I want to reiterate what Amarille and her pals stated in their book Science, Technology and
Society, under the same topic:

“Broadband Internet access was made possible and video presentation and researches became
readily available. Blogging and social networking made business; call center communication became
accessible in all parts of the world. Life-sharing and socialization through Facebook, Instagram, and
Twitter also became a trend that made connections in all parts of the world. Youtube, Flicker, and Google
made the life of individuals of all levels to be easier and more modernized because of these
accessibilities.”

It’s true, and I will be hypocrite enough if I’ll say that all that mentioned above don’t give any
good impact on my life. Most of us are very exposed to the internet, even a newborn baby today had a
social media account already. But is it a good sign?

Like a coin, the occurrence of digital world doesn’t only gives advantages, there is always
opposite or what they called the other way around. Because of the accessibility to the internet, people
became lazy. A lot of students don’t read on the available materials when doing researches, but rather
they choose to plagiarize.

Yes, blogging and social networking made business, but sometimes, they still upload blogs with
nonsense content because of business. Netizens, in some ways, use Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for
fame and recognitions. It looks like a seeking-attention site sometimes, where in fact, it was designed for
a better communication. And not all sites are reliable, that’s why there are victims of fake news, scams,
cyber bullying and the like.

Also, a lot of children are addicted to online games which made the aggressive sometimes or sick.

5. Having a variety of life in the world, different culture, different race, what can you suggest to
have a healthy society?

You cannot have a totally healthy society because variation hinders it already, that’s why all I can
say is to just spread love and happiness to others as you are gaining love and happiness from them at the
same time. That’s what I called a harmonious pococurante relationship (hehe).

6. Are you in favor using nanotechnologies/nanosciences with respect to the development? Justify
your answer.

Yes, nanotechnology gives a lot of contribution today that maybe the reason why it’s gaining
attention from the scientific community. It is referred to as technology that is defined as working with,
and producing things at atomic level, which involves imaging, measuring, modeling, and manipulating
matter at this length scale (1 to 100 nanometers).

The products and processes of nanotechnology are used or have potential to be useful in the areas
of medicine, environment, food industry, electronics, communication, and energy.
Based on what I’ve search, in the field of medicine, nanotechnology has developed and can have
promising contributions in various aspects such as diagnostics, drug delivery, molecular imaging, and
tissue welding among others. In environment, these include cleaning existing pollution, improving
manufacturing methods to reduce the generation of new pollution, and making alternative energy sources
more cost effective.

According to Qingrong (2012), nanotechnology also has been shown to impact many aspects of
food industry. These include development of new food formulation, improvement of food packaging
materials, advanced food security devices and biosensors to ameliorate food quality indices, such as shelf
life, sensory characteristics, and texture and health benefits.

The use of nanotechnology in electronics, on the other hand, has led to the development and
creation of smaller, faster, portable, and energy-efficient electronic devices and systems. These
nanotechnology-based innovations are making waves in the market and are revolutionizing many
communications, computing and electronic products and applications.

It is true that there are risks associated with it like toxicity and exposure to humans and
environment, but I think, with the further researches and development, these risks can be avoided and
better eliminated.

7. There are advantages of using gene therapy but there are reported incidents that cause death by
the use of gene therapy. Do you still want gene therapy to be developed or increase its usage
especially in the field of medicine?

Yes, because a lot of people will be beneficial with gene therapy since it is focused on treating
inherited immune deficiencies, like severe combined immunodeficiency* (SCID) and adenosine
deaminase (ADA) deficiency, hereditary blindness, hemophilia, beta-Thalassemia, as well as more
complex diseases, like cancer and cardiovascular disorders.

Maybe, I will just suggest that they should take a lot of time researching on how it can be
delivered safely, and also provide a good regulation on the uses of gene therapy. Because for sure, this
gene therapy may become a great solution in the long-time problem in the field of medicine, and that is
treating diseases.

*I remembered the movie Everything, Everything, huhu.
