INTRODUCTION

EMPLOYEE RETENTION:

Definition: “Employee retention is a process in which the


employees are encouraged to remain in the organization
for the maximum period of time.”
Employee Retention involves taking measures to
encourage competent employee to remain in the
organization for the maximum period of time. Corporate
are facing a lot problem in employee retention these
days. Hiring knowledgeable people for the job is essential
for an employer. But retention is even more important
than hiring. There is no dearth of opportunities for a
talented person. There are many organizations which are
looking for such employees.
If a person is not satisfied by the job he is doing, he may
switch over to some other more suitable job. In today’s
environment it becomes very important for organizations
to retain their employees. The reason may be personal or
professional. These reasons should be understood by the
employer and should be taken care of. The organizations
are becoming aware of these reasons and adopting many
strategies for employee retention.
There are various HR issues the a corporate deals
1. EMPLOYEE TURNOVER
2. ATTRITION
These basic needs other than routine and future HR tasks
are to be taken care of on Priority before it becomes late.

CARE Hospitals is one of the fastest growing chains of


corporate hospitals in India, engaged in providing primary
as well as tertiary healthcare services, with a difference. It
is a hospital chain that is founded and managed by
Medical professionals with a mission and a passion for
providing healthcare for the needy.
CARE Nagpur has been acclaimed as a hospital par-
excellence for its contribution to removing disease in the
neighborhoods of Nagpur and Central India. The
hospital is an ISO 9001:2000 certified Heart and
Multi-Specialty Hospital with 105 beds. It was
commissioned on the 19th of November 2006, has
clinched the honor of being the best provider of quality
healthcare of international standards at less than
competitive prices. It serves better through cashless
facility, they have joined hands with various TPAs,
Corporate and insurance companies.

Research Methodology
AIM OF STUDY:

To carry out the study of the employee retention


techniques adopted at CARE HOSPITAL in present
competitive environment of Healthcare Industry to help
knowing and reading of the minds of the current
generation professionals regarding their compensation,
Organizational Climate, Culture, Work atmosphere,
management support and Career growth opportunities.

OBJECTIVES OF STUDY:

i. To understand the Human Resource Policy


ii. To study the causes of attrition, turnover and other
related issues.
iii. Hospitals are specialized sector, where demand of
employees is high and supply is low, as expectations
are very high because it’s a service sector. So it
become challenging to retain old and experienced
staff.

SCOPE OF STUDY:

• The Management will be in a position to work out the strategies in


relation to the Human Resource Management.
• It will help management use other available HR tools effectively.

HYPOTHESIS:

Null Hypothesis:
“A Retention technique is not effective”.

Alternate Hypothesis:
“Retention technique is effective.”

RATIONALE BEHIND THE STUDY:


Employees are the basis of every organization. Hiring
knowledgeable people for the job is essential for an
employer. But retention is even more important than
hiring. To study various techniques of employee retention
will be studied here.

The project titled “A Study of Employee Retention


Technique At Care Hospital, Nagpur” shall be the result of
Exploratory research.

DATA COLLECTION:

The data used for the project is primary as well as


secondary data, as follows:

Sources of primary data-

• Personal Interview
• Other data available in HOSPITAL records
• Observation

Sources of secondary data-


• Web sites
• SOPs
• Magazines
• Books.

SAMPLING:

Sample size for the research will be about 50 employee of


hospital.
• Sample Size = 50 Employees

• Sample Area = Moil personnel, materials, marketing


and finance department.

• Duration = one (1) Month

DATA PRESENTATION AND ANALYSIS


• Pie Diagrams

LIMITATIONS
• This study is only limited to CARE and is not
applicable to other HOSPITLS.
• The method of random sampling is suitable for small
populations only.
• It does not ensure proportionate representation to all
constituent group of population.
• A simple random sample yields cases that are too
widely dispersed and this is practically not possible to
stick to the initial random sample.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

The conclusion drawn on the basis of data analysis shall


be presented along with the recommendations and
suggestions

the collection of data and other such relevant material.
