The Cumberland County Democratic Committee has released the following statement:

Yesterday in a public forum, Congressman Scott Perry said he does not believe there is
systemic racism in America. His comments further prove that he is unfit to serve the people of
Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District. The residents of Cumberland County come from
diverse backgrounds, and the people of color in our district face systemic racism every day.
They deserve a representative in Congress who believes them when they share how they are
impacted by racism.

Scott Perry is out of touch with the people he is supposed to represent, and the Republican
Party is continuing to wave the flag of racism and white supremacy. Congressman Perry’s
comments have made that very clear.

We urge voters here in Cumberland County and in the entire 10th Congressional District to
remember these comments when they are deciding who to vote for in the upcoming election.
