their professional life in hopes that they will see the value and possibilities of using it in their classrooms with their students.

Topic Date
Teach Like Your Hair is On Fire by Rafe Esquith
• Deadline to sign up for the Book Study is Friday, September 17, 2010 so that books can be ordered.
• One face to face meeting, to pass out books, will be on Thursday, October 14, 2010
Oct. – Feb.
• All discussions will occur online discussion boards on Wikispaces, collaborating through google docs, and
participants will use blogs/podcasts to share thoughts, ideas, and opinions. There will be a required number
of postings from each participant to document each person’s participation.
* Keep in mind, some session topics that have more than one date scheduled, means these are “building” sessions. You are not
required to attend the first session in order to attend a later session. However, you may be denied admittance to a later session if
you cannot demonstrate a working knowledge of the topic in order to attend later sessions.
*Sessions not having at least 5 people registered on the day of the session will be cancelled.
Making Technology Integration Meaningful
In order to integrate technology into your classroom and “busy schedules” the technology sessions for
2010-2011 have been designed to integrate with some of the options found within the Differentiated
Supervision Plan (DSP). If you decide to choose one of these options for your Differentiated
Supervision next year, you will be able to merge the technology session requirements with your DSP
requirements.

Please read the descriptions below to see how the technology sessions that are described above, can
be integrated into your DSP for 2010-2011.

Option 4: Peer Coaching (Collegial Consultation)

Participants should plan to attend the sessions focused on Integrating Web 2.0 in the
Classroom, as different tools will be introduced/discussed that can be used for peer coaching.
Some of the tools that will be used for peer coaching include mindmeister (brainstorming,
planning through concept mapping), skype (to observe another teacher), google docs. (for
collecting, collaborating, and sharing of information), as well as a google site to publish their
findings, successes, and accomplishments. Participants will also be willing to meet after school
on four occasions during the semester or year to collaborate and work together with other
teacher(s). If this option is chosen and participants attend both tech. sessions (3hrs) and at
least 4 after school meetings, they will fulfill both their technology session requirements and the
DSP requirements.

Option 5: Self-Directed Supervision (Individual Contracts)

Participants should plan to attend the sessions focused on one of the following topics: Digital
Storytelling, Building an Online Environment through Moodle, or Creating a Classroom Website.
Participants will also need to meet after school on three or four occasions during the semester
or year either independently or in a small group with the Technology Coach. If this option is
chosen, participants should attend all tech. sessions related to their chosen topic and at least 3
or 4 after school meetings (depending on their chosen topic) in order to they fulfill both their
technology session requirements and the DSP requirements.

Option 7: Professional Colloquium (Book Talks/Study Groups)

Participants should plan to meet with the Technology Coach in mid-October to begin the book
study. All activities for this book study will take place online using a variety of technology tools,
and will last from October through February. (Additional details about the book study can be
found on the previous page.) If this option is chosen, participants meeting all requirements of
the book study will fulfill both their technology session requirements and the DSP requirements.

Option 8: Action Research (Data-Informed Improvement for Teaching and Learning)

If this option is chosen, participants should plan to meet with the Technology Coach in early-
September to begin planning how the technology sessions can be integrated into their chosen
research topic. If this option is chosen, participants meeting all agreed upon requirements will
fulfill both their technology session requirements and the DSP requirements.
