OLED OLED vs LCD
• An Organic-Film-Laminated, Self-luminous Device with
Excellent Properties for Television Display
• Self-luminous material that generates fluorescence
• Wide viewing angle of the OLED gives vivid and clear images
• Extremely thin device
• Higher Contrast, Higher Brightness, Wider range of Colour, and
Faster Response time than a conventional LCD TV panel

Conventional TV OLED TV

High contrast
The OLED display technology keeps the
luminous phenomenon under perfect
control. The result is striking
reproducibility of black levels and sharp
images with high contrast.

Response time
The OLED pixels emit light directly. This
results in a nearly instant response time,
an ideal display property for watching
fast-paced movements such as football
game play.

Wide viewing angle

Enjoy motion pictures from any angle.
Structure of the OLED Display
The OLED display has two structures: bottom emission and top emission. The bottom emission is a
method to extract the light generated by EL from the thin-film transistor (TFT) substrate side while the top
emission is to get the light from the counter substrate side. Sony adopted a top-emission construction to
extract the light more efficiently.

Contrast Ratio – 1million :1
• When the screen is all black, light emission is completely cut off.
• Since no backlight is necessary, there is no light leakage.
• Comparison of all white/all black
• Contrast Ratio exceeds the limit of measurement
