Tampa, Florida boasts several attractions to their visitors.

If you happen to find yourself in the area, you

might want to check out the Tampa Museum of Art. It is one of those sites where you can just relax and
enjoy the artworks provided by man; some of them may even date to a thousand years old.

The Museum dates its humble beginnings back in 1920 when several artists organized the Tampa
Museum for Fine Arts. It opened its first exhibition on November 22 on that same year. After several
exhibitions and reorganizations, the Tampa Museum of Art was opened on 1979 in downtown Tampa. In
2010, the Museum opened its new building where guests are able to view more artworks spanning from
the olden times up to the modern designs of today.

The Museum is noted for its several Greek and Roman collections. Its first artwork purchase was a black
ancient Greek vase. Most of the Greek artifacts that the Museum houses may have been made as early
as 2300 BC. The Museum also features other forms of art such as paintings, photography, video, and
installation art, and sculptures among others.

The Tampa Museum of Art also hosts several events geared to people of different ages. For the adults,
the Museum hosts several art tutorials such as Champleve and some lectures. If you are lucky enough,
you might even get to do yoga in the museum. For kids, a summer art camp is also available where kids
get to learn how to do the fundamentals in art and be free in their art.

Like any other museum, the Tampa Museum of Art also hosts exhibitions. Some of the past exhibitions
that they have hosted include: Oswaldo Vigas, Yayoi Kusama, and Robert Indiana with their various
themed arts such as Transformations, Perspectives, and Love, among others.

The museum is open for everyone to enjoy. Indeed, Tampa, Florida is lucky enough for a museum such
as the Tampa Museum of Art to exist. The Museum is also home to Leo Villareal’s Sky – a 14,000 square-
foot LED Installation. The site is especially amazing at night when you can see the lights in full bloom.
