Ybor City Museum State Park is a popular destination for locals and tourists whenever they find

themselves in Tampa, Florida. Whenever you visit the city of Tampa in Florida, never forget to drop by
one of the finest museums in the city, which is the Ybor City Museum State Park.

Ybor City traces its roots back to the 1880s when it was founded by its namesake, Vicente Martinez-Ybor
along with the other tobacco or cigar manufacturers. Ybor City is not really a city, per se, but a
neighborhood, popularly known as a city because it housed several immigrants hailing from different
parts of Cuba, Italy, and Spain. These immigrants had worked to produce millions of cigars distributed to
different parts of the country.

The Museum State Park occupies only a portion of Ybor City. It is believed that it occupied the place
what was formerly known as La Joven Francesca. The bakery was formerly established by Francisco
Ferlita, the namesake of the store which was then to be identified with its subsequent name of “Ferlita
Bakery.” The Bakery was established in 1896 and was one of the first stores in the area to have served
Cuban bread.

The Museum, just like the city where it stands on, celebrates the contributions of the Latin community
to Tampa, Florida. It is one of the only two museums in the city considered as a National Historic
Landmark District.

The museum also hosts several exhibits, events, and tours for visitors to enjoy. Behind the garden in the
museum is a casita, as they call the building, which is a restructured cigar worker’s home. Here, visitors
can see, firsthand, how their homes looked like.

The Ybor City Museum State Park is open from Wednesdays to Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm. If you would
like a private tour around the area, or if you want to have an exclusive group tour, you can contact the
park for your arrangements.
