Not enjoying the course

• Pressure of studies;

• Adjustment to new life;

• Working while in school;

• Homesickness;

• Housemates and Depression;

• Friends.

Many students are struggling for the first for the first year of their education.
According to the 2017 Student Experience survey 87% cannot coop the
academic or social point of view of the life in the university. Their anxieties are
mostly how to govern their study. Many students hate themselves for the
situation they are into and that they had an illusive idea of what their courses
would be like. The high education pressure and poor student lifestyle can be the
reason for some worry and disappointment, as specified by Blackman,
(2020).The first year in the university is pretty hard. It is like the beginning of a
new life and the students must adjust as quickly as possible. They have to study,
attend sessions, do their homework, sometimes sleep less than they use to and
they do not like it. Some students work and study simultaneously. They do not
enjoy the sessions, because they are tired and occasionally even fall asleep
during the lessons. They face a dilemma: to quit job, university or both? Gil, N.
( 2014 ) says, that after a study of 2,128 students he established 45% have half
time job, as well as a third of them working temporarily throughout their term.
Furthermore, 13% have full-time jobs either when they study, on time of
holydays, or both.
Students who leave home for the first time get homesick very easily, because
they miss their parents, friends from school, the place they use to live and
previous daily routine. They are now out of their comfort zone and they do not
appreciate the life in the university.
According to Pruszynski, (2018), the hard time for first-year students can
worsen the feelings solitude. You can see everybody gather into new groups of
companions and it looks like you do not belong to this place.
Finding a good roommate is not easy. Some do not clean after themselves,
talking loud on the phone during the night, having guests over all times,
drinking and taking drugs. That make students to stay isolated in their room and
could leads them to depression. Then they stop attending session, loose an
interest in everything and finally dropping from the university.
Legg, T.(2017),wrights that many students are not ready for university life.
They could be in huge debt and hardly any job expectations after graduation
then earlier generation. This added warries to depressive circumstances in
university students.
Many of students had a wrong idea, as they expected making a lot of friends,
having celebrations on a weekly bases and going out frequently. Actually, they
keep away from gathering's, as claimed by them, being clear-headed among
drunken friends was not the greatest pleasure. In fact, they could not help
themselves of life around them, because they believe they should behave as the
others. They cannot appreciate the courses, because being away from the others
is extremely upsetting. Many of them believe they will stay without close bond
with the others.
Some students did not know what life in the university was going to be like.
In fact, they could be shocked when they find what it is all about.

Peer Issues

• Cultural shock;

• Language barriers;

• Roommates;

• Fitting in;

• Procrastination;

• Finance.
Cultural shock
International student are exposed to new cultures. Other students will most
likely speak differently languages, have different cultural behaviour and even
simply food the eating will be different
Language barrier
Usually speaking in different languages if they are not fluent will lead to
difficulties in expressing themselves and communication. It can be extremely
flustered as miscommunication can lead to arguments etc
Roommates
Sharing accommodation with strangers especially from different countries &
backgrounds can be very stressful. Students can not respect they privacy. Can
affect the way other students- roommates will feel about personal space, mental
health and keeping they belongings unlocked.
Fitting in
International Students are finding themselves not feeling in as some things they
were before allowing them to shine are/ can not be as impressive for new
friends. Also being shy it’s not helping to some students. It’s important to not
get overwhelmed with diversity on campus or university.
Procrastination
In new county around with new people exposed to so many exiting things it’s
very easy to drift away from most important part of university life: study
In long run it can become an issue as students can start blaming each other for
distraction or do that to other with premeditation to get better grades.
Finance
Notes: study abroad can be very expensive and if some students are lucking
strong moral code can help themselves to stuff which doesn’t belong to them. It
can be food it books it any other item...
