Army joins Navy’s ‘Fleet Marine Exercise Pagsisikap 2011’

Camp Panacan, Davao City- The forces of the Philippine Army joins the
Philippine Navy in showcasing its competence in combat operations.

The Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao gains positive feedback from the locals
after an Amphibious Raid Capability Demonstration was staged at Duraday
Beach Resort, Brgy. King-king, Pantukan, Compostela Valley,Davao del Sur
yesterday, January 27, 2011.

“Mahalagang makita ng mga tao na tulong-tulong talaga ang Philippine Army at


Philippine Navy sa pagpapanatili ng peace and order”, said Colonel Camilo
Gilayo, Battalion Commander of the 71st Infantry Battalion. Gilayo’s troops
successfully demonstrated the Amphibious Raid.

The activity aims to test and evaluate the capabilities of the Navy and Marines
against enemy blitz.

“Let the people know that the Navy is capable and always ready to serve them”,
Commodore Philip R Cacayan (PAFP) said during his speech.

He also added that the troops are strong and well equipped in the service of the
people.

“Naappreciate namo ang effort sa Navy kay nakita sa mga tawo nga andam sila
(Navy) nga makigbisog ug moprotekta alang sa katawhan”, Kagawad Rosie
Jayson-Rizon,resident of Brgy. King-king, said to her delight after watching the
demonstration staged in the area.

She also added that thru this effort of the Navy, with the cooperation of the Army
troops, she firmly believes that the locals will no longer be intimidated to the
aggression of any lawless armed groups.

While Pantukan Municipal Mayor Juan Cipriano Celso V Sarinas gives kudos for
the impressive Amphibious Raid Demonstration, he also said that what he had
seen gives him confidence that the Navy can help a lot in impeding the threats of
insurgency especially in Pantukan.

The event also showcased the new vessels of the Navy to be used for special
operations. The B820 BRP Magat Salamat Patrol Craft S4, BRP Timoteo
Figuracion (PG389) and the PG395 Patrol Gunboat BRP Felix Apolinario are the
new addition to the Navy’s Multi Purpose Attack Craft (MAPC).

The activity was organized by the Philippine Navy - Naval Forces Eastern
Mindanao (NFEM) in cooperation with Task Force Davao (TFD) , 71 st Infantry
Battalion, the 1002nd Brigade and the 701st Brigade, together with the Department
of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Local Government Unit (LGU).
