- Yes the author successfully making his point because the novel gave
ideas what is happening in the real world. Before, women were
stereotyped as females who are to stay in houses to do chores, take
care of children and their husbands. This novel proves that women
can also rule the world, fight for their rights and do what man can do.

CONCLUSION

􀂃Stating whether you agree with the author.

- I agree with the author, because his work serves as an eye opener to
the reader what is really happening in our society. The gender
inequality where women are stereotype as fragile, weak, and
vulnerable which is not true after all.

􀂃 Back-up your decisions by stating your reasons.

-The novel reflects the ugly truths and harsh realities of our society.
The wandering eyes of hypocrite people, the gender-biased
community, double standard morality that is manifested by our
society until now.
􀂃 Give a general opinion of the work.

- The book talks about the role of women in the society where males
are considered the dominant ones. Before Filipinas role was to stay in
the house, obey their husbands, do chores, guide their children, and
just be a mother and a wife. Women should only do house
responsibilities and must not get involved in different political and
livelihood matters. However, this changed as time passes by.
Nowadays, women are able to participate in different areas or sectors
of the society, whether it may be in the political aspect. They give
females now the opportunity to prove themselves, show what they
can do and not just contain their selves in the four corners of the
room. Females, in today’s society, have given space and voice that
before only man can have. Lualhati Bautista wanted to show and
revealed this matter to the audience. How society change their
perceptions and treatment towards women.
