Bayou Outdoors hosted their first Sam Rayburn tour event January 15, 2011 and Big Sam produced
a 29.15 lb sack to win the event. Richard Draper & Phil Marks took 1st place in this new tournament
trail that paid back over 25% of the field.
Bayou Outdoors, the makers of V&M and Cyclone baits, is hosting several circuits this year to not only
help promote their lures but give an affordable opportunity for anglers to compete. Each entrant receives
a $50 voucher for V & M and Cyclone baits to use at their favorite bait dealers.
The first team to weigh in was Chris McCall and Tommy Dickerson, weighing 25.49 lbs and setting the
mark to beat. Soon after, Richard Draper and Phil Marks came in carrying their 5 fish limit that tipped
the scales to 29.15 pounds, winning 1st place. Choosing their biggest bass to weigh individually was not
an easy task as they had a few chunks to pick from. Their biggest tallied in at 7.34 lbs, the biggest bass of
the day. Strike King lipless crank baits as well as square billed cranks were the key to success for this team
to win the first Rayburn tournament of the season.
“Team Tackle Monkey”, McCall and Dickerson hit the grass near creeks in 2’-6’ of water with rattle
traps and Santone football head jigs. “We had a small limit in the boat by 9am, then hit a lull. Between
10:45 and 11:15 we loaded up on several in the five pound range, and thought we would have enough
to win so left our spots alone for future events.” Still a good finish at 2nd place, the team would like
to thank Ranger, Evinrude, Berkley, Santone Lures, Gambler, Abu Garcia, and a prototype of Tour One
Rods they were using for their support.

NISSAN OF SILSBEE
Excerpts from Webb Garrison’s
What’s in a Word?
X for Kiss
Our custom of putting Xs at the end of letters to symbolize kisses grew out of
3480 Highway 96 Bypass medieval legal practices. In order to indicate good faith and honesty, the sign of
(409) 299-3221 Saint Andrew was placed after the signature on all important documents. This sign
is quite like the letter x.
Contracts and agreements were not considered binding until each signer added

Saint Andrew’s cross after his name. Then he was required to kiss it to guarantee
We’re Makin’ Deals, The Silsbee Way! the faithful performance of his obligations.
Over the centuries the origin of the ceremony was forgotten. People associated
x with the kiss instead of the pledge of good faith, and the modern custom was
born.
Adding to that, indicating hugs, the O was adopted to symbolize wrapping one’s
arms around another. Today, letters signed with Xs and Os represents ones affection
to another.
Don’t forget your sweetheart on Valentines Day February 14th!
