British Airways - Project Support Engineer

• Overseeing Sun and IBM mid-range systems deployment in BA's data centres.
• Planned takeover of hardware maintenance for BA's 8 Sun E10k platforms, resulting in major cost
savings compared to Sun's own quote.
• Sourced and supervised E10k hardware training courses for in-house engineering staff.
• Ran a six month survey of BA's archive media, identifying business risks. Produced report to B.A.’s
Director of IT.

• Shortened down-time by undertaking Sun explorer dump cracking.

• Protected the audit trail for a multi-million pound banking account by rectifying inappropriate user
action.
Westminster College Help desk Supervisor Contract 1995-1998
• Managed a Novell/Windows platform for 200 workstations and up to 2000 student areas across four
remote sites in Central London.

• Named as “the first person to make the help desk work” by the IT User Group
• Developed professional rapport in the MIS department and became the preferred contact through a
personal and supportive approach with customers.
• Reduced downtime by optimising engineers schedules.

Took a sabbatical and undertook further training in Networking and Unix/Linux systems 1994-1995
