THE THIRD ARCHITECTURE AND SUSTAINABILITY CONFERENCE

IN BISKRA (BASC 2008)

“STRATEGIES AND PERSPECTIVES”

April 8 – 10, 2008

The building sector represents a major platform for social and

economic activities to create and improve our living environment.
Meanwhile, it has a considerable impact on our natural and built
environment, as well as on human beings, consuming a significant
proportion of limited resources on the earth including energy, raw
material, water and land. Sustainability of a built environment and
related activities is therefore a key issue to be coped with by all of us to
create a sustainable future.
Based upon the outcomes and reviews of the prior conferences, the
BiskraASC2008 National Conference Board has set a slogan for the
2008 Conference as follows:
Strategies and Perspectives

Under the slogan, the Conference will be characterized by the three

major streams of bridging existing gaps among "sustainable issues",
"Architecture", and "human settlements", respectively. Participants are
expected to contribute to those bridging through their own researches
and practices
