only over-the-air 24-hour news channels. It can be seen in Caracas, Carabobo, and Zulia on UHF
channel 33. Globovision can be seen in the rest of Venezuela by those who have cable or a
satellite dish (Globovision has an alliance with DirecTV, where it can be seen onchannel 110).
Some of Globovision’s programs can be seen in the United States via TV Venezuela, a channel
offered to those who subscribe to DirecTV® Para Todos. It can be seen in other countries via a

IRIB 2 is a state run satellite channel originating from Tehran, Iran. Programming is a mix of
Iranian films, documentaries, current affairs, religious and educational programs. News programs
are presented in Farsi or English. The newscasts include national and international stories,
Middle East regional highlights and business reports focusing on the Gulf States and the
petroleum industry.
Kurdsat TV is a Kurdish satellite television station based in Iraqi Kurdistan and belongs to the
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), one of the main parties in Northern Iraq and part of the
unified Kurdish alliance in Iraqi government. It broadcasts programs mainly in the Kurdish
language. Other languages such as Turkmeni, Persian and Arabic are also used in some
programs. Kurdsat TV began broadcasting in 01/01/2000 and was among the first Kurdish
satellite stations in Iraqi Kurdistan. Kurdsat TV is accessible live through the Internet and also
maintains a website for recent news and commentaries in English, Kurdish and Arabic.

broadcaster, introduced a radio service in 1925 and a television service in 1953. NHK is financed
by the receiving fee paid by each household that owns a television set. This system enables the
Corporation to maintain independence from any governmental and private organization, and

NHK operates five television channels and three radio services. General TV and Educational TV
are broadcast terrestrially, and with the three radio channels they provide a diverse range of

Internationally, NHK offers three TV and radio services under the NHK WORLD umbrella.

Asia Today: AsiaToday debuted on CCTV International on May 3, 2004. This 30-minute
program airs three times a day and aims to keep viewers updated on news concerning Asia. Asia
