Iskcon's goals are to systematically propagate spiritual knowledge and educate people in spiritual life to achieve unity and peace. They aim to spread consciousness of Krishna as revealed in the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam by referencing these texts in their teachings. Below are the goals of Iskcon, and what they claim to be doing.
1. To systematically propagate spiritual knowledge to society at
large and to educate all people in the techniques of spiritual life in order to check the imbalance of values in life and to achieve real unity and peace in the world. Yes, they are doing this. Their propagation is systematic, not haphazard. They give classes every day, hold regular seminars and retreats and other educational forums. Visit colleges and universities, hold regular festivals and offer books and magazines on the street and other public places. 2. To propagate a consciousness of Krishna (God), as it is revealed in the great scriptures of India, Bhagavad- gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam. Yes, they are doing this. They continuously reference Bhagavad Gita and Bhagavatam when speaking about Krishna and base their classes and teachings on these books. 3. To bring the members of the Society together with each other and nearer to Krishna, the prime entity, thus developing the idea within the members, and humanity at large, that each soul is part and parcel of the quality of Godhead (Krishna). Yes, they are doing this. They have established temples, farm communities, Nama hatta centers and other outreach programs all across the world keeping Krishna in the center. 4. To teach and encourage the sankirtana movement, congregational chanting of the holy name of God, as revealed in the teachings of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Yes, they are doing this. They chant in the temples and on the streets regularly. 5. To erect for the members and for society at large a holy place of transcendental pastimes dedicated to the personality of Krishna. Yes, they are doing this in Sri Mayapur Dharma their world Headquarters where there will be a 5-acre theme park in the grounds of the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium depicting Vrindavan and Krishna’s different lilas. There are other centers also which depict the pastimes of Lord Krishna. 6. To bring the members closer together for the purpose of teaching a simpler, more natural way of life. Yes, they are doing this. All temples have a brahmacari ashram where inmates live a simple life, and farming communities are working towards a natural self-sufficient lifestyle. 7. With a view towards achieving the aforementioned purposes, to publish and distribute periodicals, magazines, books and other writings. Yes, they are doing this. To date over 500,000,000 periodicals, magazines, books and other writings have been published and distributed.
