How to use this prospectus
This prospectus gives an overview of the
range of courses available at
Harrogate College including days, times
and prices – if you would like further
information on courses please contact
our Course Information Team on: 01423
878211.
You can enrol on the majority of courses
listed in this prospectus during the main
part-time enrolment session.
Enrolment begins:
Thursday 1st July 2010
Mondays - Thursdays 9am-5pm
Fridays 9am-4.30pm
Including Saturday 4th September 2010
10am - 2pm
Advice days
If you need help and advice on specific
courses we have arranged advice days
which will be held on Thursday 1st July and
Friday 2nd July 2010 at Harrogate College.
On these days teaching staff are available
to give personal advice and guidance on
the best choice for you.
If you are unable to attend the advice days
you can still receive information and advice
from our friendly Course Information Team.

If you are a learner who has studied with us
you will have received details of when you
are to enrol with us for the coming year.
How much will I have to pay?
Course fees may comprise of tuition,
resource and examination fees. Please
see the prospectus for details of individual
course fees.
Learners aged 16–18
Learners aged 16-18 years old are not
required to pay tuition or examination fees.
All learners are required to pay any
resource fees. If your course includes a
resource fee you will be required to make
arrangements to pay this fee at enrolment.
Learners aged 19+
Please note that fees or a deposit are
payable at the time of enrolment.
Fee Remission
If you are over 19 years of age (as at 31st
August 2010) you may be eligible for a
waiver on your tuition fees (exam and
resource fees are still payable). This will
depend on the qualifications you currently
hold and the level of study you are
enrolling on.
You may also be eligible for tuition fee
remission if you are on the following
income based benefits (SFA funded
learners only):
• Job Seekers Allowance
• Income Support
• Housing Benefit submitted in writing. Harrogate College shall not
• Council Tax Benefit
• Pension Guarantee Credit
• Working Tax Credit (income less than
£15,276)
• ESA (Employment & Support Allowance)
You will need proof that you receive one of
these benefits when you enrol.
Please note this does not cover resource
or examination fees. Fee remission is not
available for Higher Education courses or
overseas learners.
Method of payment
Payment can be made either by cash,
cheque or debit/credit card. Cheques
should be made payable to
Harrogate College.
• If your total fees are less than £100, the
full amount is payable when you enrol.
• If your total fees are more than £100, you
may pay the whole amount or you can
pay a 20% deposit when you enrol and
set up a payment plan by direct debit for
the outstanding amount. You must have
your bank and/or credit card details with
you when you enrol.
Is your employer paying your fees?
You will need to provide a letter from your
employer confirming payment at the time
you enrol.
Overseas & Non-European students
pay different rates. Work-based training
programmes also incur different rates of
fees – please call us for details of these
prices.
POA – what does that mean?
If you are interested in a course that lists
POA (price on application) don’t be put off
– simply call us for information.

Harrogate College has taken reasonable care
to ensure that the information contained in this
prospectus is correct at the time of going to
press. Prospective students should be aware
that it is sometimes necessary to cancel or
modify courses prior to commencement due to
low enrolment or funding changes, including
(but not limited to) course content, dates,
times, fees and entry requirements. Prospective
students should confirm all details with our
Course Information team prior to enrolment and
commencement on a course or entering into
any other financial commitment. You may also
request a copy of the Harrogate College Fee
Policy 2010/2011. If a student or prospective
student has outstanding fees from a previous
course, enrolment will be refused.
If a course is cancelled by the college prior
to commencement, Harrogate College will
use reasonable endeavours to offer a suitable
alternative course. If a student does not wish
to accept or Harrogate College is not able to
offer an alternative course the student will
be entitled to withdraw and may receive an
appropriate refund. Where a student is unable
to continue, refunds will be made only in
exceptional circumstances and at the discretion
of the college. All requests for refunds should be
have any further liability.
