I have studied in Hanoi city for one year. At the beginning, everything is not easy to me.
I have to live far away from home and face to many new things. I lived in dormitory with
another 12 friends. I thought it’s so difficult to live with many people like that. But,
through time we more understood each other and live as good friends. We’re students so
we have to shape our life in suitable schedule. In the early morning, we have breakfast
and flock to school on time. It takes a short time to go to school so we can walk on foot…
Study at school seems to be not enough for me so I attend education institution out of
school. To save money and time, I choose bus as a daily transportation. However, there
are some disadvantages. Especially, pickpocket usually occurs. Thieves wait for
passenger’s carelessness, and misfortune descends upon many. Despite of many
difficulties, I think living in the city brings me more advantages. The facilities and
opportunities in the city help me further my studies and increase my knowledge of human
affair.
The most important day in my life
The most important day in my life was the day when my parents
decided to send me to school.
I was then about seven years old. I had been playing with the children
living around my house for some years. I had no thought of ever going
to school. I enjoyed playing to catch fish from the shallow streams
near by. Sometimes we went to the forest to catch birds and squirrels,
and I had always thought that life would continue to be the same for
me. But, one day, to my great sorrow, my parents suddenly
announced that I was no longer to play about and that I was to go to a
school.
Words can hardly describe how sad I felt at the thought of having to
go to a school. I had often heard that school teachers were very strict
and cruel. I had also been told that there were many difficult subjects
to learn in school and I could not bear the thought of being compelled
to learn them. But everything had been decided for me and I had no
choice but to go to school.
My parents are both teachers so they always take care of my study first. I’m not an
excellent student with a large knowledge and intelligence. However, when I was a child,
I knew that learning play an important part in anybody’s life. I had to do many entrance
examinations and passed all of them although they were not easy but I tried my best
and I was successful. The most difficult exam that I have ever passed was a university
entrance exam. When I studied the twelfth grade, I had trouble with mathematics. I got
many bad marks which made me very disappointed and depressed. Sometimes I thought,
I will never study at university and my dream will end. A month before an entrance
exam, my father who is a math teacher taught me so much. Soon after, I discovered to my
great enjoy that math is not too difficult and I really took a keen interest in my lesson. My
dream come true, I study at university now. I major in language which is my favorite
subject at high school. Now, I’m able to speak E with some ease. Living in a good
studied environment, the knowledge that I gained has enriched my mind everyday.
Graduate from university will prove of great value in my future job. May be I will
someday occupy an important position in profession. Having successful result as today,
I’d like to show deep thankfulness to my family. I’ll try my best to get better result in my
life (viet linh tinh :P)

When i study in capital, I have chance to go to the cinema with my friend. i think it
brings me many advantages The best thing I get from film is studying E. because,
the large number of films that I saw were from America so I can practice my E skills
and study new words. On the other hand, I really feel comfortable and relax while
watch film at cinema. The facilities are all convenient: screen is large and lively,
loudspeakers are clear and the seats are nice and comfortable. Some people said:
“going to the cinema is waste of time and money” But I don’t think so :d I usually
watch film on weekend so it doesn’t have bad influence on my study. Besides, I’m
often treated by my friends, there for, it doesn’t waste money at all :P . The only
disadvantages is that I usually watch film at night. It sometimes makes me feel
unsafe. In sum, it is clear that cinema has advantages as well as disadvantages.
Certainly, the advantages outweigh disadvantages I will try to study hardly and
earn much of money to purchase tickets for admittance to the cinema by myself….
The benefits of education are therefore many, and everyone should try
his best to acquire the highest of education, either by attendance at an

Valentine's Day
It's that time of the year when couples show their love for each other by sending
cards, flowers and chocolates. But Valentine's Day is not only about public displays
of affection: in recent years it has also become big business. In the UK alone, more
than 20 million pounds is spent on flowers, whilst in the United States over 1 billion
dollars is forked out on chocolates.
Although Valentine's Day has become a global industry with more than 80 million
roses sold worldwide, the origins of the day are unclear and hidden in the mists of
time. Nobody knows exactly who St Valentine was, although some historians
suggest he was a Roman martyred in the third century AD by a Roman Emperor. It
is said that the first recorded Valentine's card was sent by the imprisoned Duke of
Orleans in 1415. It is believed that he sought solace from his confinement by
writing love poems to his wife.
Valentine's Day, or its equivalent, is now celebrated in many countries around the
world. However, the traditions often differ from place to place. In Japan, for
example, it is customary for the woman to send chocolates to the man, whilst in
Korea April 14th is known as 'Black Day' and is when the unfortunate men who
received nothing on Valentine's Day gather to eat noodles and commiserate with
each other.
Technological developments have also played their part in keeping Valentine's Day
relevant in the 21st century. Valentine's e-cards have been all the rage in recent
years. However, internet security experts urge web users to be wary as malicious
hackers could use e-cards to spread viruses and spyware.
Valentine's cards can also be used for less than romantic purposes. Police in the UK
city of Liverpool sent Valentine's cards to criminals who failed to appear in court or
have not paid fines. The cards contained the verse, 'Roses are red, violets are blue,
you've got a warrant and we'd love to see you'. Who says romance is dead?
