RIGHT FRONT BAND

With right side facing, using 3.25mm needles and MG, knit up 47 (55-63) sts evenly along right front and end of neck band.

Work 1 row rib as for Bac.k (beg with 2nd row).

2nd Row: Rib 5, * yfwd., K2tog, rib 7 (9-11 I,. rep from * 3 times, yfwd, K2tog, rib 4 ... 5 buttonholes.

Work 3 rows rib.

Cast off loosely in rib.

LEFT FRONT BAND

Work as for Right Front Band, omitting buttonholes.

TO MAKE UP

Using stranded cotton and "Knitting St" (see below for diagrams), embroider flower boxes on fronts as illustrated. Using "Grub St" and "French Knots" embroider flowers on boxes. Add leaves using "Chain 51". Tie a marker 13 (14-16) em up from lower edge on side edges of back and fronts to mark armholes. Sew in sleeves between markers, placing centres of sleeves to shoulder seams. Join sleeve and side seams. Sew buttons in position.

KNITTING STITCH EMBROIDERY

1. Bri ng the needle out in the centre of a stitch and take it up and around the head of the stitch (under the stitch above).

2. Take the needle back through the centre of the original stitch and out through the centre of the stitch on the left.

TENSION

26 sts to 10cm in width over Fair Isle pat! on 4.00mm needles.

BACK

Using 3. aOmm needles and MC, cast on 73 (77 -81-89-93) sis. 1st Row: K2, * PI, Kl, rep from * to last st, Kl.

2nd Row: Kl, * PI, Kl, rep from" to end.

Hep 1 st and 2nd rows until work measures 3 (3.5-3.5-4-4) cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row and inc 2 sis evenly across row ... 75 (79-83-9 1·9S) sis.

Change to 4.00mm needles.

NOTE: Do not weave colours in Fair Isle patt, but carry colour

nol in use loosely across onwrong side. Alwa ys carry colours to ends of rows and always carry MC above Cl and C2. Where possible, do not break off Cl, but carry loosely along edges of work.

Rows 1 to 20 incl from Graph (see below) form patt,

Work in pat! until work measures 21 (22-23.5-25-28) em from beg, ending with a purl row.

Shape Armhofes:

Keeping patt correct, cast 0114(4.4-5-5) sts at beg of next 2 rows 67 (71-7S-81-85) sts,

Dec one st at each end 01 next and alt rows until 61 (65-69-73-77) sts rem.

Worl{ 31 (3S-37~37-39) rows patl. ShClpe Shoulders:

Keeping pall correct, cast off 6 (7 -8-8-9) sis at beg of next 4 rows, then 7 (7-7-8·8) sts at beg of fall 2 rows.

Cast off rem 23 (23-23-25·2S) sts,

LEFT FRONT

Using 3.00mm needles and MG, cast on 35 (37-39·43-45) sts. Work. same number of rows rib as for Back, inc 3 (2-3-3-2) sts evenly across last row ... 38 (39-42-46.47) sis.

Change to 4.00mm needles.

Work. In patt from Graph until. work measures same as Back to armholes, ending with same patt row. **

Shape Armhole and Front Slope:
