6.1 I invest R20 000 into a savings account. Interest is paid at a rate of 15%p.a. compounded
monthly. How long will it take (years and months) to reach R100 000? (4)

6.2 A loan of R35 000 is repaid in monthly instalments over 4,5 years starting one month
after the loan was taken. If the interest is 18% p.a. compounded monthly calculate:
6.2.1 the monthly payments. (4)
6.2.2 the balance on the loan after 12 payments. (4)
6.2.3 the amount of the monthly payment if the first instalment is deferred and only paid at the
end of the sixth month. The loan must still be paid 4,5 years after it was taken. (4)
