" Nos amis italiens et espagnols (ils ne sont pas
les seuls) ne font guère de distinction entre "
roman noir " et " roman policier ". Mais comme
en France, nous la faisons, en toute logique ce
dictionnaire devrait ne comprendre que des
entrées concernant le roman policier. Si vous
en êtes d'accord, ce sera ma première licence :
je parle d'un univers littéraire qui est le mien,
on y trouvera aussi bien du " polar " que du "
noir ".
S'agissant d'un univers " littéraire ", il ne

devrait y avoir ici que des livres. Ce sera ma
seconde licence : incidemment, on y trouvera
quelques films, quelques séries TV, quelques
BD, des librairies, des blogs.
Enfin, autant prévenir tout de suite : pour les
définitions maîtrisées, les monographies
exhaustives, les analyses thématiques, etc., le
lecteur trouvera facilement d'excellents
ouvrages (j'en cite quelques-uns, en fin de
volume) qui correspondront à cette attente.
C'est à un écrivain que l'éditeur a confié ce
Dictionnaire amoureux. Je parlerai donc ici en
lecteur et en romancier. Il y aura des oublis
impardonnables, des injustices, des jugements
contestables. C'est inévitable mais je ne fais
que respecter le projet de cette collection :
c'est le dictionnaire de ce que j'aime (à
quelques oublis près).
Lorsque je lis un Dictionnaire amoureux, rien
ne me fait plus plaisir que de découvrir des
choses que je sais déjà. C'est un peu comme
pour le Nobel de littérature : le jour de la
proclamation, quand il s'agit de quelqu'un dont
je connais déjà le nom, j'ai l'impression d'être
cultivé. J'espère que ce Dictionnaire amoureux
réservera au lecteur quelques-unes de ces
satisfactions mais aussi quelques surprises,
quelques découvertes. Et l'envie de lire et de
relire encore cette littérature majeure qui,
quoiqu'on en dise, reste durablement marquée
par le prosaïsme de ses origines." (P.L.)

Quand on parle de polar nordique, on cite
toujours Maj Sjöwall et Per Wahlöö. En France
