INTRODUCTION
“ENERGY SAVING IS REALLY NECESSARY IN SCHOOLS !
”
Saving energy is really very important. A school often uses
a lot of energy so that they can provide maximum facilities to
the students and teachers. But it is also necessary to save
energy. So let us all become responsible members of the school
and save energy. Let us also convey this message to other
students , create awareness among people and encourage them
to save energy. Let's make our future bright and make our
EARTH cleaner and greener.

 Our school, Pawar Public
School – Chandivali has a huge
infrastructure and a good
playground. It has clean, large,
spacious and well developed
classrooms with large windows
for ample light and cross
ventilation .
There are medical rooms in our
school for the students, the
teachers and the staff .
In our school there are 2005
Our School Building Art Classroom students from Nursery to Grade
10.
 Chemistry
Laboratory
Our school has seven floors
with a basement where our co-
curricular classes are
conducted.
On the seventh floor, Art and
Craft classes are conducted.
Craft Classroom The School Library The Physics, Chemistry,
Biology and Computer labs are
on the fifth floor.
We also have a spacious library
in our school.
 POLICY OF OUR SCHOOL IN SAVING ENERGY
⮚ Our school has installed solar panels on its roof so as to save energy and
take maximum advantage of renewable sources of energy available to us.
⮚ We shut off the lights when not required.
⮚ Instead of using fans, we open the windows whenever necessary.
⮚ We make sure that the computers in the labs and classrooms are switched
off when not in use.
⮚ Our school also collects plastic bottles and newspaper so that they can be
recycled .
⮚ Our school tries to keep the environment clean and green .
⮚ We use LED and CFL lights instead of incandescent lights bulbs as they are
more environment friendly.
 SAVING ENERGY…
⮚ Our school has also been a
part of TATA POWER for many
years and every year at least
250 students along with
teachers participate in Tata
Power saving energy activities.
⮚ Our school students have
always served as a true
ambassador to the TATA
power group on the occasion
of Children's Day for
protecting the environment
along with Club Enerji .

SCHOOL SAVES ENERGY

• We turn off the lights while

leaving the room and if you enter
the room only switch on the
lights that are required so as to
save energy . We use the natural
light during the day time.
• Instead of using fans we open
the windows whenever possible
so that the electricity is not
wasted .
• We use CFL or LED light instead
of incandescent bulbs.
Turn off the tap water while
washing hands in the school .

Grow more and more trees so

as to prevent the pollution .

Let’s use the 3R principle

 ROLE OF STUDENTS IN SAVING ENERGY
● The students of the Pawar public school, Chandivali are really responsible and are
always eager to participate in the different activities .They attend seminars and
sessions related to saving energy. They understand the necessity of energy and
implement all the measure they can to save it. They also impose all the things they
learn during the seminars into their daily life .
● They make posters and spread awareness about saving energy to other people . They
are also selected in many projects for saving energy. They also save the natural
resources that are given by nature . Learning new things at a young age gives them
responsibilities so that the future will remain greener, brighter and healthier.
● These values have been instilled in them so strongly, that in spite of the lockdown
and the school being closed, they follow such practices at home as well.
● Moreover, the Security and Housekeeping visiting the school regularly for
maintenance and sanitization, have also been taking care to save energy.
 3 THINGS SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN
SCHOOL FOR SAVING ENERGY
• Sometimes the classes should be taken in open green areas with fresh
air so that energy is not wasted and natural resources are also used
for a good purpose .
• Power strips can also be used because it can supply electricity to
various devices and it is also safe to use . It also saves energy as each
device is not using electricity individually .
• Carbon footprint should be initiated in all schools and seminars and
sessions should be held to educate the students and teachers.
 PRIMARY WAYS OF SAVING ENERGY AND
THEIR BENEFITS
1. Instead of using fans in the classroom we can keep the windows open
so that the electricity can be saved .
o You want to know the energy consumption for 8 hours, so since the
power is from 50–100 watts, the total energy is 50*8 to 100*8, that is 400
to 800 watt hour, which is .4 to .8 kilowatt hours a day.
o Electricity costs vary, but 12 rupees per kilowatt hour is a good average.
So, multiplying again, we get 4.8 rupees to 9.6 rupees to run a fan for a
day, which is 105.6 rupees to 211.2 rupees per month ( if the school
works for 22 days a month).
o If we reduce the usage of fans at least by 3 hours, we could save 39.6 to
81.2 rupees per month.
 MAIN WAYS FOR SAVING ENERGY AND
THEIR BENIFITS

2. Use LED or CFL bulb in place of incandescent bulb in the school.

During the day we can use natural resource that is sunlight that
help us to save energy .
o With an estimated energy efficiency of 80-90%, LEDs help save
energy compared to conventional light bulbs. They significantly
reduce energy consumption and thus help save money by
lowering electricity bills.
• 3. We could adjust our day to day behaviour in the school so that
less energy is used. Usage of energy efficient appliances are not
needed .
 SPREADING AWARENESS….

• It is important to educate and make people aware about the importance

of saving energy.
• In order to save energy, we could:
o Conduct seminars to make students and teachers aware about saving
energy.
o Students can perform street plays, go for rallies and marches etc.
o Make posters.
o Educate people in our neighbourhood about importance of saving
energy.
