This is your wireless card. You need the broadcom wl driver.

Is it possible to do this without having any internet connection at all? I've seen this solution before and can't get it
pigeonpie to work. Trying just now I received the following:

It is possible. You can download the package to a flash driver, transfer it over and install. I'm not sure in Fedora
reed9 what all you need though.
Linux Guru

I think you just need the following three packages:

broadcom-wl-5.10.91.9.3-1.fc12.noarch.rpm
kmod-wl-2.6.31.5-127.fc12.i686-5.10.91.9.3-3.fc12.6.i586.rpm
kmod-wl-5.10.91.9.3-3.fc12.6.i586.rpm

Posts: 4,266 Just to make it easy, make a sub-directory in your home directory called broadcom and put the files there. Either
use your filemanager or do
Code:

mkdir ~/broadcom

Then to install do
Code:

cd ~/broadcom
su -c 'rpm -ivh *.rpm'

Load the module (or reboot)

Code:

su -c '/sbin/modprobe wl'

This looks like it may have worked! I can't tell because there's no wireless here [Work = other
pigeonpie machines to access internet on but no wireless, home opposite, sadly] but now it's showing 'wireless

enabled' where before it didn't even have that option. Fingers crossed, anyway.

Okay. So it worked. Until I rebooted, at which point it no longer worked.

Fortunately, my roommate's belkin wireless adapter *started* working so I was able to:
Join Date: Mar 2010
Posts: 4 yum -y install broadcom-wl kernel-PAE-devel kmod-wl
akmods --akmod wl

and then reboot and it was fine. Might this solve it? Or are things randomly not 'taking' after a
reboot normal?
