Overview of the Programme


Business complexity in Indian scenario is increasing day-by-day triggering various issues and business problems.
Research methodology is a structured framework of conducting management research in order to address various
issues and to solve problems in a scientific way. For this, quantitative as well as qualitative data analysis is an absolute
necessity. Therefore in today's time it is imperative to understand research methodology and various applications of
contemporary statistical techniques for conducting management research for better decision-making and knowledge
discovery.

w To enable management teachers, professionals, practitioners and researchers irrespective of their discipline, in
developing the most appropriate methodology for their research studies
w To make participants familiar with techniques for different research approaches.

The program is based on application of software like SPSS and some other statistical tools.

Pedagogy
The Pedagogy will be a judicious mix of Lectures, Case Studies, Group Discussions, Exercises, Demonstration, and
Practicals.

Programme Dates and Venue


The programme will be organized at IIM Indore during February 6-10, 2008. Twin sharing accommodation shall be
provided to the residential participants from February 5, 2008 evening to February 10, 2008 evening.

Fee
Rs.10,000.00 (Residential) per participant. The fee includes boarding, lodging, course material and stationery. The
non-residential candidates have to pay Rs.5,000/- (Five Thousands only) for the program.
In case the participant is not able to attend the programme, then no refund request will be entertained. However, the
participant would be entitled to course kit. If the Institute cancels the programme, fee will be refunded as demand draft
within one week after the programme dates.

Registration
The last date for receiving nomination is January 30, 2008. Please help us confirm the nominations by depositing the
course fee by January 30, 2008.

Pogramme Director
Prof Prabin K Panigrahi
MCA (R.E.C.,Rourkela), Ph.D. (IIT, Kharagpur)

Prof. Prabin is a faculty of Information Systems. Prior to joining IIM, Indore, he was involved in teaching, research and
consultancy projects in Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar and Loyola Institute of Business
Administration, Chennai. He completed his Ph.D from IIT, Kharagpur on Fuzzy Object-Oriented Database
Management Systems after completing his Post Graduate in Computer Applications from National Institute of
Technology (formerly Regional Engineering College), Rourkela.
He has international as well as national research publications in refereed journals. His teaching and research interests
include Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Database Management Systems, Data Mining, and
Knowledge Discovery in Databases, Data Warehousing, Decision Support Systems, and Systems Analysis and
Design.
Prof Prabin has coauthored (adapted) three books titled “Modern Systems Analysis and Design, 4/e” (Pearson
Education India) with J.A. Hoffer, J.F. George, and J.S. Valacich, “Database Systems: A Application-Oriented
Approach, 2/e" (Pearson Education India) with Michael Kifer, Arthur Bernstein, and Philip M. Lewis and a United
States edition book titled “Computer Ethics, 3/e” (Pearson Education India). Recently he has authored one research
book titled “Fuzzy Object-Oriented Database Systems, 1/e” (ICFAI Press, India).
Prof Prabin had also pursued research on micro-planning tools under Indo-British Higher Education Link Programme
at University of Wales, UK. He is also a member of “Center for Global Resource Leverage: India of the Ross School of
Business at University of Michigan”. He is a life member of The Institution of Electronics and Telecom Engineers
(IETE), and Computer Society of India (CSI). Prof Prabin is also serving as a Mentor for SPSS South Asia.
