When the current subscriptions expire, a number of the Library’s print magazines and newspapers will not be re-ordered.
Print copies of magazines that the Library already owns will continue to be available to read here. You will also be able to
read future issues of many magazines and newspapers online. Some have free websites. Others are available free on
Library database computers, and free at the Library’s website. For assistance in finding a particular magazine, newspaper,
article, or author online, please ask staff in person or by phone.
Why are we making this change? This is one of the tough decisions required by the economic downturn. All areas of the City
were involved in figuring out how to use the funding we have to best match the public’s priorities.
We’re glad that the City committed to keeping all three Library locations open at their current hours. To protect such essential
services, the Library has had to take other steps to save money. One of those steps is bringing the magazine and newspa-
per collection down to a size we can manage cost-effectively and sustainably.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this change. Thank you for your understanding and support.
