Information for Authors

The Electrotechnical Review (Elektrotehniški vestnik – EV) strives to publish well-written papers in all areas of electrical engineering
and computer science that present important research results, successful applications or development, and well-focused surveys
which put recent progress into a broader perspective. In addition to regular papers which undergo a review procedure short
Correspondence items are published which range from book reviews, reports on activities of professional societies and news on
technological development and its applications.
The journal is bilingual and publishes papers in Slovenian and English language. All paper titles, abstracts and key words are
published in both languages. Papers in Slovenian have extended English abstracts. The Editors can arrange for translations of titles
and abstracts from English to Slovenian when necessary.

Process of submission
1. Submit three copies of the manuscript, each copy complete with abstract, key-words, references, and figures, to the Editor-in-
chief. Since the page limit for all published papers is six pages in the EV format, we advise the authors to prepare the papers
already in the appropriate EV two column format. The authors can get Latex and Word templates as well as examples of
typesetted articles from the EV home page (http://ev.fe.uni-lj.si). Do not send electronic files at this point!
2. The Editor-in-chief will take care of the review process.
3. The manuscript will be returned to the author together with the notes of the reviewers and copyediting notes. If the paper gets
accepted, the first author (if not advised otherwise) will be asked to amend the manuscript. One copy of the amended
manuscript, original illustrations and all electronic files on a 3.5” floppy disk or preferably on a CD should be send to the
Editor-in-chief. The electronic version can be send also by e-mail to the Editor-in-chief.
4. During the typesetting process the Technical Editor will correspond with the author directly advising him/her of necessary
steps to be taken for the processing of his/her manuscript.

Style of Manuscript
1. Manuscripts should be computer typesetted in a format similar to the one used for printing the Electrotechnical Review. The
maximum page limit in that format is six pages! Note that each additional page is charged with 50.000 SIT (US $ 250).
Because of better readability the final paper is typesetted with wider fonts than normal, so take this into account when
formating the manuscript to six pages.
2. The title page should contain the title (both in English and Slovenian) and each author’s name, affiliation, mailing address
and e-mail address. The abstract (both in English and Slovenian) should be no more than 200 words. For papers written in
Slovenian a longer (500-1000 words) abstract in English including references to Equations, Figures and Tables should be
provided. In this case, captions for Figures and Tables should be provided in Slovenian and English as well. Immediately
following the abstract no more than 5 key words (in English and Slovenian) are to be supplied for subject indexing.
3. Introduction should be concise and define the scope of the work in relation to other work done in the same field.
4. References must be typed in a separate reference section at the end of the paper, with items referred to in text by numerals in
square brackets. References must be completed as follows:
Papers: Author(s), first initials followed by last name, title, periodical name spelled out in full (in italics), volume number,
issue number, first and last page numbers, year.
Books: Author(s), first initials followed by last name, title (in italics), chapter, page numbers, location, publisher, year.
Edited volumes: Authors(s), first initials followed by last name, title of paper, initials and names of editors, book
(proceedings) title, first and last page number, location, publisher, year.
5. Figures. All figures must be grayscaled, mentioned in the text and inserted at the appropriate place in the paper. EV is not
printed in colours. References to figures should be as follows: Fig. 3, Figs. 4 and 5, Fig. 10a.
6. Captions should provide a brief, concise, self-sufficient description of each figure or table.
7. Formulae. Letters in formulae and formulae letters in the text are printed in italics with ordinary typeface, if not marked
otherwise (i.e. vectors and matrices should be in bold, units and running subscripts in roman). Equations should be numbered
consequently and referred to as follows: Eq. (8), Eqs. (31) and (32). Do not refer to them as: Eq. (8a).
8. Authors are requested to send their current biographies of no more than 100 words.

Electronic form
• Please make certain that all changes made to your paper version are incorporated into your electronic version. Additional
typesetting due to the differences in the text between printed and the electronic version is charged extra.
• We encourage authors to use the LATEX markup system which is used for typesetting the Electrotechnical Review. Detailed
instructions for typesetting with LATEX, examples and the necessary style files are available on the Electrotechnical Review
home page. The figures should be submitted in Postscript (EPS or PS) format, each figure in a separate file.
• If you are unable to typeset your paper in LATEX format then send us a Word file. The authors shoud use appropriate
template file and styles according to the instructions on the Electrotechnical Review home page.
• The resolution of raster figures should be 600 dpi, while the width of one-column figures should not exceed 8 cm and the
width of two-column figures should not exceed 16 cm (in relationship with dpi unit). Also send us the paper in PDF format,
in press quality.
• We can accept any CD (preferably) and 3.5” IBM-PC or compatible disk format. The final electronic version can also be
