Installation of LCD TV
This guide describes the installation of a Eclipse T15 Sm@rtbox (ISB protocol) for
Samsung LCD TV.
The guide is valid for the following TV types:

23" Samsung LCD TV: LE23R51BH LE23R71BH


26" Samsung LCD TV: LE26R51BH LE26R71BH
32" Samsung LCD TV: LE32R51BH LE32R71BH
40" Samsung LCD TV: LE40R51BH LE40R71BH

Parts for installation


LCD TV with mains cable and interface cable: RJ12/3.5 mm jack
T15 Sm@rtbox, 5V mains adapter and short antenna cable male/female
or
D35 Digital Sm@rtbox, 5V mains adapter, STB3 cable 10P DIN/SCART and network cable.

Tools for installation: Eclipse Service RC and Samsung standard (consumer) RC.

Installation
RJ12/3.5 mm jack cable to the LCD TV DATA connector (3.5 mm jack - 4 poles). This
connector is located on the back side next to the headphone socket (LE51BH only).

For the R71BH type the Data connector is in the bottom row of connectors next to the S-
video connector.

T15 box:
Connect the communication cable to the Sm@rtbox (RJ12 - 6 pin). The short antenna
cable is placed between the male connector on the modem and the TV antenna input.
Connect mains for TV and 5V for Sm@rtbox.
D35 box:
Connect the communication cable to RJ12 labelled 'ISB/ATI' . Connect AV cable between
box (10p connector) and TV (SCART to EXT1). Connect mains for TV and 5V for
Sm@rtbox. Connect Ethernet cable between box and wall outlet of the room.

TV Configuration
Important Note: Hotel mode on will only work when Language is set to ENGLISH.
When TV turns on for the first time it will prompt: PLUG and PLAY installation. Either press
EXIT (when used with a system ) to do it manually or continue (when used as a Stand-
alone TV) but, DO NOT SELECT AN OTHER THAN ENGLISH.
Normally the TV is in Hotel mode from the factory. If not, using a Samsung RC. Press
INFO, MENU, 0, 1, EXIT . The TV will now enter the Hotel mode setup menu.
If Hotel mode does not appear or strange characters appear the TV needs a Reset
because the language was not set correctly - see appendix.

Select menu positions using up and down arrows on Samsung RC. Change values using
arrow left and right.
Select :
1. Hotel mode = ON (Off = consumer mode)
8. Menu On =0 (1 = extended Menu - see text)
9. PowerOn Ch = 1 (fold back program when communication is lost)
If a position 13. Check Comm appear, set this to = 1 This will check if communication
is lost and revert the TV to pgm 1.

When hotel mode selected is will establish communication with Sm@rtbox. When
communication is lost the TV will revert to Stand-alone operation. Protected programs will
not be shown (skipped in program table).
If Menu On = 1 the consumer menu in the Stand-alone mode will be extended to include
various available possible settings. Not recommendable when using a system.
Exit Hotel setup menu by pressing TV button on Samsung RC.
This completes the hardware installation and setup of the TV.

Sm@rtbox Room ID # and RC type setup (T15 box)


If the box needs to have set-up a room ID number (e.g. new box or room).
Remove interface cable from the Sm@rtbox and connect the ID allocator to the Sm@rtbox
using the 8 pins connector at the Allocator.

Using the 2M Eclipse Service RC pointed towards the ID allocator box. Press MENU key
and the button at the side of the RC simultaneously. The box will now enter the room
set-up mode and the ID allocator will display the current room number.

To alter the room number press OK and change the room number to the correct number
and press OK again to accept. Press the On/Off by key on the service RC to exit.
If RC type needs to be altered do as described above but press arrow down (toggles
between room #, RC type and Audio volume) when room number appears. The Allocator
will respond with RC type:
RC type (first digit), level (second digit)

When using the build in audio amplifier in the T11 Sm@rtbox for e.g. external bathroom
speaker the audio volume can be altered using the allocator box. To alter do as described
above but press arrow down twice (toggles between room #, RC type and Audio
volume).

This value is not dynamically updated; only read at Standby > On.
Remove the ID allocator again and reconnect the cable between the Sm@rtbox and the
TV.

Room ID Room ID # and RC type setup (D35 box)


Using the 2M Eclipse Service RC pointed towards the TV. Press MENU key and the
button at the side of the RC simultaneously. The box will now enter the set-up menu
and display the current room number and RC type.
Change for correct room # and IR type and use arrow down until Save and exit (OK).

Test
Press a program button on Eclipse RC to turn on. The red On LED will now start to blink
and the TV will turn on.
Test the TV by normal operation e.g. shifting channels, volume up, interactive menus etc.

Appendix A
Problem ... Hotel mode will not appear correctly.
To recover TVs with the Hotel menu lost do the following sequence using a Samsung
RC :
Press INFO, MENU, MUTE, POWER TV will now turn on in service mode. Press
arrow down until RESET (item 12) press arrow right to select. TV will now turn off
(to stand by mode).

Turn on TV again. TV will now prompt: PLUG and PLAY installation. Either press EXIT
to do it manually or continue but, DO NOT SELECT AN OTHER THAN ENGLISH.
