I. Defining Christian Ethics

1. Moral Dilemma -

2. How should Christian decide what is right or wrong?

-

3. As a Christian, what should you use as moral basis, authority or standard in deciding
what is right or wrong, good and bad? Why should you use it?
- being a Christian I could say that we should use moral basis in deciding what is
right or wrong because Christian is a follower of God and God provided the truth about
how we live in the Bible, so if we violate this moral standard, you did not also follow
what God’s word is.

4. Comment on the following ethical principles. Is it acceptable to you? Why or why not?
Choose two only:
a. “Let your conscience be your guide.”
- This is acceptable to me, because I believe that through conscience, we we’re
able to distinguish what is right to what is wrong, because sometimes we do things that
we know are wrong, but with the help of our conscience we try to not to do it.

b. “The situation calls for it, so I have to do it.”

- This is acceptable to me too, I’ll be hypocrite if I say that I did not lie, but sometimes
there are lies that I made because the situation calls for it, sometimes I don’t actually
want to lie but we can’t do about it because of the things that I know will benefit another
person.

II. Value Clarification

5. CONSIDER: IS IT ALRIGHT FOR…

(Choose three only and explain why it is alright or why is it not alright)

• A Christian Lawyer to plead not guilty for a criminal he knows is guilty

- For me this is alright, because as lawyer that is his/her work of nature, he/she
needs to achieve the things that he/she has to achieved, and to accomplish what
he/she ought to accomplished as a lawyer.
• a Christian airline steward to serve liquor
- For me this is alright, because as you see, what is wrong in serving a liquor?
For me it is not wrong to drink what is wrong is to get drunk, so I didn’t see anything
wrong in here.

6. Check the statement you believe in, and give your reason. List your beliefs about each
issue. Choose two only.

1. - I am free and responsible for my actions because I should be the one who’s
liable for what action I’ll be doing.
- I am determined and not responsible for my actions because sometimes I’m
not thinking of what might happen if I do things I know can cause me pain or will not
cause me any good.

2. - I am selfish when I think myself more than anyone.

- I am basically caring and kind toward others because I value them as my
friend, or family.

7. List your characteristic ways of behaving in relation to your roles and activities
