For many years Retailers have faced limited choice in
the PoS arena – particularly at the entry level. There was
little customized design for Retail. It may have even
been necessary to consider a conventional PC and then
compromise on true Retail functionality.
The Retail Core directly addresses the historical issue of
compromise. DigiPoS Retail specific design has brought
together high performance, reliability and direct low entry cost
in one flexible system.
For certain environments, the Retail Core alone will act as an
ideal thin client system for a particular store or application.
For different needs, or alternative stores across the estate
– the plug and play Retail Core Extender can be installed,
adding significantly deeper functionality. This way technology is
deployed only at the point of real need bringing the opportunity
upgrade only as required, deriving outstanding ROI.
DigiPoS Retail Core was designed exclusively with retail in
mind. As always, increased specification components and
rigorous quality control were major considerations for the
heavy use environment that PoS systems are subjected to
within the sector. Years of operational support for Retailers
in the field - across tens of thousands of stores has allowed
DigiPoS to identify the key areas that need focussed design
consideration to take account of the circumstances POS

Additional design priority was given to the need to reduce size,
optimizing counter and surrounding space. This was achieved
with the complete Core system unit measuring only 9.25” x
8.25” x 2.375”. Compacting the performance technology also
led to new innovation - by ensuring the unit could perform
exceptionally without a fan - one of the rational areas of
system weakness. Finally, this superior technology is then
encased within an entirely sealed unit with no moving parts
- reducing issues such as dirt and dust which again have such
a negative effect on system components.
