When “what do you believe in?” is asked, what usually comes in our mind first? Many
people will say their personal beliefs about their culture, religious stuffs, marriage, others may
tell about political convictions and for some it may be believing in karma and believing in life to
the fullest but for me, I think the perfect match for ‘I Believe…’ is in myself. It is my belief that
I always put on my mind that I must believe in myself in order to succeed. It started when
I was a highschool student, I remember I joined science summer camp before, then one of the
facilitator of that science summer camp is my auntie. At the last day of the camp, I was given a
certificate of participation and another certificate indicating that I am the first runner up of the
summer camp. Then of course my parents were there and I don’t know if this is a joke or what
but my mother said that it was just chamba. Joke or not it made an impact to me because ever
since my little sister was born, it was very hard for them to praise me or say congratulations, I’m
proud of you. But that time at the summer camp, I removed the thought on my mind and I
believe in myself that I deserved that award because I know that I did well, I participated in all
From that moment I always believe in myself, that whatever circumstances I will face I
will survive it. I know I’m still young and I will still learn more especially now that new journey
comes to me. And I also believe that everything happens for a reason that’s why I used what my
mother said to me as a motivation, that make me the person I am today. Now, they are
appreciating me and all of my efforts. They always congratulate me for whatever I accomplish
and so I am very thankful for that and of course to myself who never surrendered especially at
those worst day of my life because I believed in myself that I can do all things with God.
