• This course focuses on the theoretical as well as the practical aspects of time
frequency signal analysis and processing (TFSAP).
• It focuses on the fundamental concepts and principles used in the analysis and
processing of non-stationary signals, as found in a wide and ever-increasing range of
applications including telecommunications, radar and sonar, and biomedical
engineering.
• The course includes a step by step tutorial approach to the use of some TFSAP-based
techniques in the solution of typical practical engineering problems. The tutorial is
based on the MATLAB*-based software package “TFSA”, written by the course leader
and his co-authors. This software efficiently implements a large number of widely
used algorithms and helps to practically grasp the power of TFSAP. Participants
will receive a complimentary copy of the TFSA toolbox for MATLAB.

Who Will Benefit From This Course
This course is aimed at students, engineers, scientists, researchers and practitioners in
signal and image processing, communication, biomedical engineering or anyone who is
faced with the challenging problem of analysing, processing, and interpreting man-
made and real-life signals that exhibit a non-stationary behaviour.
This course will help develop a practical understanding of the potentials and methods of
the increasingly useful area of TFSA.
