Composition Competition for Saxophone Quartet

To encourage the creation of new repertoire, SaxOpen and Musica are joining their forces to launch a composition competition for
saxophone quartet. The winning work will be premiered during the Musica festival (between September 17 and October 3, 2015,
http://festivalmusica.org/festival).

The winning work will also be the complusory piece for the final of The International Saxophone Quartet Competition organized by
the Conservatoire de Strasbourg in July 2015.

Scores must be submitted by February 1, 2015

Specifications:

Duration: 8 to 12 minutes (any works exceeding 12 minutes will be automatically eliminated)

Orchestration: Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone – no electronics, unplugged
Proficiency level: Professional
All contemporary techniques allowed
Composers must authorize the performance of their work as part of The International Saxophone Quartet Competition organized
by the Strasbourg Conservatory and SaxOpen (no public). Composers must also guarantee that the premier of the work will be at
the 2015 Musica festival.

To complete your application, please send us the following documents at info@saxopen.com before February 1, 2015:

• Pdf score of the work

• Audio recording or at least one extract of the work done with computer support or preferably saxophone quartet

• Duration and orchestration of the work

• Additional information if necessary

• Biography

• Identity document

Award: € 3000 + Premier performance in 2015 Musica festival and recording by Musica

The result of the competition will be announced early April 2015.
