4.1 Preface
This section describes the procedures for removing and installing main parts in 14 items
where the device parts correspond to parts lists.

NOTE When working on a part managed as a spare part but not described in the
procedures, check the mounting status well before starting work.
NOTE The options should basically be removed but may be left mounted if it is not
necessary to remove them.

4.1.2 Don'ts
Do not remove the frame components shown below. Removing the components may cause
device misalignment. If such components are removed or their screws are loosened by
mistake, be sure to install or tighten them on a stable and solid horizontal surface.

Removal
1. Remove COVER REAR250. (REP7.4)
2. Remove COVER REAR. (REP1.2)
3. Remove COVER LEFT. (REP1.5)
4. Remove 250 EXIT ASSY. (REP7.1)
5. Remove the two screws (silver, collar-head, 8 mm) securing OVER TOP ASSY.
6. Release LEVER LINK from the boss of COVER OPEN.
NOTE When releasing LEVER LINK from the boss of COVER OPEN, open COVER
OPEN and extend LEVER LINK.
NOTE In the following procedure, care should be taken not to take OPERATION PANEL
too far away from the main unit because they are connected through a harness.
7. Release the four front hooks of COVER TOP ASSY from COVER FRONT and remove
COVER TOP ASSY from the main unit.
8. Disconnect the SWITCH I/L ASSY connectors (P/J144, P/J411) from the frame.
9. Release a harness from the OPERATION PANEL connector.
10. Release a harness from the clamps of SWITCH I/L ASSY and COVER TOP ASSY and
remove COVER TOPASSY.
11. Release the two hooks of OPERATION PANEL and remove OPERATION PANEL from
COVER TOP ASSY.
12. Remove the two screws (gold, tapped, 8 mm) securing SWITCH I/L ASSY, extract a
harness from the COVER TOP ASSY hole, and remove SWITCH I/L ASSY.

Perform removal steps in reverse order.

Removal
1. Remove COVER REAR250. (REP7.4)
2. Remove the four screws (silver, collar-head, 8 mmx2; gold, tapped, 8 mmx2) securing
COVER REAR.
3. Open COVER REAR as indicated by the arrow, release three hooks, and remove COVER
REAR from the main unit.
Replacement
Perform removal steps in reverse order.
NOTE When replacing, identify two kinds of screws and attach them to the correct
positions.

Removal
1. Remove COVER REAR250. (REP7.4)
2. Remove COVER REAR. (REP1.2)
3. Remove COVER LEFT. (REP1.5)
4. Remove 250 EXIT ASSY. (REP7.1)
5. Remove COVER TOP ASSY. (REP1.1)
6. While pressing the top two hooks of COVER FRONT, pull down COVER FRONT to the
front.
7. By sliding in the direction of the arrow, release the bottom two hooks and remove COVER
FRONT from the main unit.
Replacement
Perform removal steps in reverse order.

Removal
1. Remove COVER REAR250. (REP7.4)
2. Remove COVER REAR. (REP1.2)
3. Slide COVER LEFT in the direction of the arrow to release the three bottom hooks and the
two rear hooks.
4. By sliding down, release the three top hooks and remove COVER LEFT from the main unit.
Replacement
Perform removal steps in reverse order.

Removal
1. Unhook HOLDER RETARD with a screwdriver and lift it as indicated by the arrow to make
free.
2. Unhook ROLL ASSY RETARD and remove it from SHAFT RETARD.
NOTE When removing ROLL ASSY RETARD, do not hold its rubber section.
NOTE In addition to the above procedure, you may press HOLDER RETARD down to
remove ROLL ASSY RETARD.
Replacement
Perform removal steps in reverse order.
NOTE Hook ROLL ASSY RETARD securely on the groove of SHAFT RETARD.
NOTE After mounting, press HOLDER ASSY REATRD down to see that SPRING
RETARD is not off.

Removal
1. Remove COVER CST from the cassette body.
2. Release LOCK EXTENSION and extract the cassette extension.
3. Remove the five screws (gold, tapped, 6mm) securing COVER EXTENSION.
4. Remove COVER EXTENSION from HOUSING EXTENSION150/250/550.
5. While releasing RACK SIZE with the cassette on the front, remove RACK SIZE from
HOUSING EXTENSION150/250/550.
6. Remove the screw (black, collar-head, 8mm) securing GEAR SECTOR.
7. Remove GEAR SECTOR from HOUSING EXTENSION150/250/550.
8. Unhook GUIDE END150/250/550 and remove it from HOUSING EXTENSION150/250/550.
NOTE Note that excess force may damage the hook of GUIDE END150/250/550.

Replacement
Perform removal steps in reverse order.
NOTE After replacement, move GUIDE END150/250/550 to see that LINK SWITCH SIZE
moves smoothly.
Note1 When replacing, set GUIDE END150/250/550 to A4 (portrait) as shown below
and align Ο on RACK SIZE and GEAR SECTOR for attachment as shown in the
previous page.
Note2 When attaching COVER EXTENSION, check that COVER EXTENSION is secured
by tabs at five sections of HOUSING EXTENSION150/250/550.

Removal
1. Remove COVER CST from the cassette body.
2. Release LOCK EXTENSION and extract the cassette extension.
3. Unhook GEAR PINION and detach it from HOUSING TOP150/250/550.
4. Release LEVER BTM LOCK and STOPPER GEAR and lift PLATE ASSY BTM.
5. Press the hook of HOUSING TOP150/250/550 down and slide GUIDE ASSY SD L inward
to remove from HOUSING TOP150/250/550.
6. Press HOUSING TOP150/250/550 down and slide GUIDE ASSY SD R inward to remove
from HOUSING TOP 150/250/550.
7. Remove the screw (gold, tapped, 8mm) securing PLATE GEAR LOCK on the GEAR PB R
side. Unhook PLATE GEAR LOCK and remove it from HOUSING BASE150/250/550.
NOTE Since the following procedure makes GEAR PB L, GEAR BTM ONEWAY, and
GEAR LOCK ONEWAY free, care should be taken not to lose them.
8. Unhook GEAR PB R and remove it from SHAFT PB.
9. Release GEAR PB L and remove PLATE ASSY BTM, SHAFT PB, GEAR PB L, GEAR BTM
ONEWAY, and GEAR LOCK ONEWAY together from HOUSING TOP150/250/550.
10. Extract SHAFT PB from PLATE ASSY BTM and remove GEAR PB L, GEAR BTM
ONEWAY, and GEAR LOCK ONEWAY.

Replacement
Perform removal steps in reverse order.
NOTE When replacing SPRING BTM UP150/250/550, align it with the bosses of PLATE
ASSY BTM.
NOTE When replacing GEAR PINION, extend GUIDE ASSY SD R and GUIDE ASSY SD
L out completely. If GUIDE ASSY SD R and GUIDE ASSY SD L deviate from each
other, side registration will be lost.
NOTE When replacing PLATE GEAR LOCK, lift PLATE ASSY BTM. If PLATE ASSY
BTM is tilted, a skew or a jam may occur. After work, check that PLATE ASSY
BTM is not tilted.

Removal
1. Remove COVER CST from the cassette body.
2. Release LOCK EXTENSION and extract the cassette extension.
3. Release LEVER BTM LOCK and STOPPER GEAR and lift PLATE ASSY BTM.
4. Remove the screw (gold, tapped, 8mm) securing PLATE GEAR LOCK on the GEAR PB R
side. Unhook PLATE GEAR LOCK and remove it from HOUSING BASE150/250/550.
5. Unhook GEAR PB R and remove it from SHAFT PB.
6. Remove the screw (gold, tapped, 8mm) securing COVER BTM UP/COVER BTM UP550
and remove COVER BTM UP/COVER BTM UP550 from HOUSING BASE 150/250/550.
7. Remove GEAR LOCK PINION from HOUSING BASE 150/250/550.
8. Remove RACK BTM LOCK150/250/550 and SPRING BTM LOCK together from HOUSING
BASE 150/250/ 550.
9. Remove GEAR LEVER LOCK from HOUSING BASE 150/250/550.
10. Remove LEVER BTM LOCK from HOUSING BASE 150/250/550.
11. Remove the two screws (black, collar-head, 8mm) securing STOPPER GEAR and remove
STOPPER GEAR and SPRING STOPPER GEAR from HOUSING BASE 150/250/550.
NOTE When removing and replacing STOPPER GEAR, care should be taken not to lose
SPRING STOPPER GEAR.

Replacement
Perform removal steps in reverse order.
NOTE When replacing, lift PLATE ASSY BTM. If PLATE ASSY BTM is tilted, a skew or a
jam may occur. After work, check that PLATE ASSY BTM is not tilted.
Note1 When replacing RACK BTM LOCK150/250/550, lift LEVER BTM LOCK. After
work, press and release LEVER BTM LOCK to see that the convex of LEVER BTM
LOCK hits the stopper of HOUSING BASE 150/250/550 and that ▼is positioned on
the stopper.
Note2 When replacing STOPPER GEAR, press the SPRING STOPPER GEAR against
the plate as shown in the figure.
