Welcome to this week’s newsletter.

We are looking forward to unveiling the new look LINC and the
new Website!!

Awareness Training
We still have places left please circulate the word to colleagues
and friends as this is really a great opportunity for the wider
community to get a sense of what we are about and how
important is to be aware of LGBT issues. The training takes place
here in LINC next Friday the 11th of March from 10 until 4 there is
a charge but this will be subsidised for community members and
people coming from the same organisations. Please contact Karla
or Toddy this week if you want to sign up as I will be out of the
office.

Women's Camp is in Cork for 2011

A camp organisers' meeting is happening in LINC, White Street,
Cork on Thursday 24th February at 7pm - before the New LINC
Launch party - for those of you who are interested! Let me know
if you can make it so we can get a room to fit us all.
Coffee and tea provided but bring your own biccies.

LINC Launch Night

Come along to the unveiling of the new look

LINC.
Thurs 24th Feb 2011 @8pm.
Non Alcoholic Punch & Nibbles will be
provided.
 We will also be showing the new LINC
Website which will be live on the night.
There will be entertainment provided by
Mna Mna Choir and our own local lesbian
act “Pixie Lols” will be doing an acoustic
session.

Camera Club:

Exposure settings! Depth of Field! Interested in taking photos?

Interested in learning and sharing knowledge? An introductory
night to discuss setting up a camera club will take place in LINC
on Thursday 10th March at 8pm. Please contact Kate Moynihan at

Cork Womens Fun Weekend

Hello all still looking for people to volunteer a Workshop at this
years’ fun weekend. We have loads of interest in stalls there

Backwater Artists Group has a number of Shortterm/Project Studios
available at present, 1 x Sculpture Studio and 1 x Painting Mixed Media.
Please contact the studio if you are interested.
Backwater also has a number of 4 year Studios available. 8 Studios are
available in total, 7 x Mixed Media and 1 x Sculpture. Please contact the
studios for an Application Form. Interviews will be held in April. Closing
dates for Applicants 5pm Friday 25th March 2011

Counselling Service Reminder

Just a reminder to community members that the information
regarding FREE counselling through LINC is a confidential service
between the service user and the counselling service they
contact. LINC staff need not be notified if someone decides to
avail of counselling. Information about how to contact a service
is available in envelopes under the blue notice board in the front
reception. Please feel free to take the information when you are
in LINC or alternatively any staff member can give details over
the phone. Service users are not identified to staff in LINC either
at the time of contact or after sessions have taken place as
clients are identified by ID number not name.

Mna Mna Choir

It was lovely to see the choir back in force last week. It’s very
difficult to reform some groups after floods etc. but Mna Mna
have proved once again how they can re-group so effectively. I
am sure the songs were flowing last Thursday. Mna Mna choir
are always looking for new members and you don’t have to be a
soprano but you do need a sense of fun!

Training

Occupational First Aid €30

What an opportunity! 30 euro versus 200 any-where else please
make sure you get your place as they are limited. Runs for 4
Saturdays starting March 5th.
This training fulfils all requirements for workplace accreditation.
It is valid for two years and covers:
CPR (including paediatrics; De-fib; soft tissue injuries; burns and
all possible work related injuries.)
Certified by the OFAAA (Occupational First Aid Assessment
Agency).

Peer Support Groups

Hi everyone just to clarify that I will be looking after the groups
from this week. I am actually out of this office until next
Wednesday but you can still contact LINC with any queries and
Karla or Toddy will help you. I hope you will bear with me for the
next few weeks during the transition as I need to get my head
around the various group type’s aims and objectives of each
group and when and where they are taking place. Patience is a
virtue and I am pleading for a suspended sentence if there are
any hiccups!
With that in mind here goes!

Older Womens Group:

Could do with a bit more enthusiasm around this one. Come on
Gals where art thou! You are sooooooooooooo welcome to attend
each Sunday at 6pm. Here in LINC.

Women in Recovery Fridays 6-8pm Contact LINC for details

Bisexual Womens Group:

This is beginning on Friday night this week 8pm in LINC. The
facilitator here is very experienced and will guide women along
for the next six weeks with a view to having a self-sustaining
group at the end. In the survey it women wanted this type of
group so now we are giving it to you so PLEASE support your own
needs.

Married Women Group: please contact the office to confirm

attending.

Lesbian Parenting Support –please contact the office and when

there is enough interest we will start the group.
 Social Events

POOL TOURNAMENT
Kicks Off At 9pm Wednesday 23rd February At Influx Bar
For all you POOL PLAYERS out there, Influx's very own Stephanie
Downey will be running the POOL TOURNAMENT this Wednesday
Night at Influx Bar from 9pm.
Influx Bar will start the 'WINNERS POT' at €20 each week and
each player will contribute €2 to the pot.
The Best Player on the night takes away the LOT in the POT

Sports
Women's Tennis on Tuesday evenings - We're looking for new
members, all levels welcome. For more information, please
